tpbf Posted July 2, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 2, 2015 We just paid off our September trip on the Summit. As usual, there we several "glitches" on the web system which took several calls to clarify. When we finally received our "paid" bill, I thought the assessment for cruise care seemed small. When I checked the site I saw that we had been charged the rate for our actual cruise cost (following a couple discounts we received for assorted conditions) rather than the full fare cost (which I had expected to be charged). As folks who have needed to use this insurance in the past, I would never be without it, but I don't want to call attention to my situation. Does anyone know how the price is set: actual cruise cost vs cruise cost following discounts. Would hate to have that glorious day, cruise launch day, arrive and learn I messed (or someone) up my insurance payment and I was without coverage. CHEZMARYLOU Posted July 2, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 2, 2015 The cost should be based on the amount of the non refundable amount. Say your cruise cost $5,300 and it shows a discount of $300 for a net cost of $5,000. That's what the cruise care is based on. You do not pay it on refundable taxes & fees, pre purchased excursions, beverage packages or gratuities because if you cancel before the cruise but after final payment these amount are refunded by Celebrity.
