ForSharonB,

I'm also in an AFT cabin, just not a corner cabin. We are on Deck 7. What deck are you on?

PinaCarada,

Thanks for all the info!!!! Love reading your review!!

Good idea but we do YTD at a table for 2 :)

Order something extra for the two of you to share. :)

Last time we had 13 people so we tried just about everything. This time there are four of us and we are also doing YTD. Might not be as much sharing going on.

:) Barb

If you google trinity reservations, the cost for the Best Western, Dorsey Rd. is only $129 with taxes included. We use it all the time for trips and cruises. They also just remodeled the hotel.

Order them all and share with table mates. :) At least that's what we usually do.

We also always ask for a cheese plate when we sit down. We enjoy the cheese course before dinner.

We love to order the cheese plate as a starter too! I was going to touch on it later in the review :p

Sorry One more question. I was reading that they offer new movies on the ship. does these movies also play in your stateroom as well and do you get a list of what movies that are playing on the pool deck each day and in your room?

Heather, each movie is listed in the day's Fun Times, whether it's an on-deck movie at the Seaside Theater or an in-room movie. They are listed in the "For Your Information" section. For this first sea day, Cinderella and The Fault in Our Stars was at the Seaside Theater, and Grown Ups 2 and Ice Age: Continental Drift played on the stateroom TV.

That's a great deal! Thank you for sharing - when we plan another cruise out of Baltimore, we'll definitely use Trinity.

They will be SO surprised!! Are they signed up for Camp Carnival? One of our grandsons is 10 (he was almost 8 on the last cruise) loves it! So does the 13 y.o. and he's excited because he won't have to wear "the band" this time :)

Enjoying your review. I can tell you that you are not the only one on earth that likes the eggs. I do too! So there's at least two of us. I get them every morning of every cruise:p!

I have put the Pride on my list of considerations for next year. My biggest hesitation will be the vibration/bad motion issue. Can't wait to hear your take on it. Reports have been all over the place.

Keep it comin';)

Here is a horrible video I took of the vibrations in David's. Please ignore my immature 12-year old of a husband.

Been on the Pride the last 2 years in August and each time I read posts of it having bad vibrations. There may be vibrations you now are happening but that's usually a very short time and it's when they are pulling away or into the pier or when they 1st start out.

Really not something that's going to shake you and make you fall.

Tuesday, June 23 - Fun Day at Sea

Thanks again to everyone who has stuck with me so far, and for all of your nice words about the review. My work schedule is all over the place and I apologize for my spottiness in posting. I also want to thank a few of you for making me feel like I'm much less of a bad American for liking Carnival's Lido buffet scrambled eggs.

Onward with the second sea day! This was another lazy, restful day. We decided to start our day by heading to the infamous Sea Day Brunch in the Normandie dining room.

We swung by the casino bar first so I could grab a mimosa. I've seen how busy the bar servers during the Sea Day Brunch are, and I really wanted to enjoy my mimosa WITH my meal and not after. Also, there were awesome pre-noon mimosa and bloody Mary specials on the Breeze in January at certain bars, so I wanted to take advantage of that. They were either $4.25 or $4.75 (obviously I drank so many on the Breeze that I can't quite remember) and were full-sized, so it really was a great deal.

However, the bartender at the casino bar let me know that Carnival had done away with the mimosa/bloody specials a few months earlier. I believe the regular price now was either $8.25 or $8.75. Do you see a trend here? The bartender did say that all mimosas are now made with a higher-shelf level of champagne rather than the cheapest offering, which is why they got rid of the $4-something special.

I asked him to make my ideal mimosa, which is a glass of champagne with a splash of orange juice for color, and he gladly obliged. He also laughed incredibly hard, and waved to me and made a "drinky-drinky motion" every time after that when he saw me in the casino, but hey, a girl loves her mimosas.

We arrived at the second deck entrance to the Normandie around 9:30 to check in for the Sea Day Brunch. We had around a 2 minute wait in line, and the hostess asked us if we were okay sitting at a table with others. After our previous night in the dining room, we absolutely jumped for the chance to be seated with others. They led us to a table along the back wall, and we were seated with two other friendly couples who we not only chatted with at brunch, but met up with several additional times throughout the cruise.

The brunch offers a large selection of breakfast and lunch foods, starters, sides, and desserts. A bread basket is also brought to the table upon your arrival, which contains breakfast pastries and croissants (if you dine earlier in the morning) and assorted breads (if you dine closer to noon-time). Juices, milk, coffee, and tea are also included. It runs from 8:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. on sea days only.

Just like dinner in the MDR, you can order multiple starters, sides, or entrees if you prefer. I started with the Flamin' Tomatoes Soup, which came out piping hot and was just the perfect amount of smooth and spicy. It is garnished with a few small tomatoes and crispy croutons.

AJ started with the Caesar Salad and added jerk bacon. It tasted similar to the Caesar offered for dinner but the bacon was a great addition.

I ordered the Mac n Cheese for my entree. You can add fried chicken, steak, or bacon as well, but I opted out and went with just the classic. It also arrived hot, creamy, and baked with a perfect halo of cheese on top. It was VERY filling and rich, and I was able to finish about 2/3 of it on my own.

AJ went with the Eggs Benedict. He always enjoys Carnival's benedicts, whether they're from the buffet, MDR breakfast or Sea Day Brunch. He doesn't seem to be bothered by the crusty Lido hollandaise that so many CC'ers talk about, but is pretty easy-going in general.

After finishing our entrees, we waited for our desserts. We had all ordered them while placing the rest of our orders, but our server had been MIA for awhile. We were having a great time chatting with our tablemates, so once we saw another server, he re-took our dessert orders and they arrived soon after.

I ordered the Banana Cream Pie, which is awesome. It's got a tasty shortbread crust and is served with whipped cream and raspberry sauce.

AJ declined dessert, and we headed up to the room to change into our suits to hit Serenity. This was the day that we were able to score a clamshell. AJ lasted a short period of time before his pale skin started screaming, and I followed around lunchtime to grab lunch at the Lido buffet. We took another nap after lunch (this would become a daily ritual), so I'll use this time to touch on the events going on today that we didn't do on this cruise but are worth mentioning.

Today was the Red's Rum vs. Blue's Tequila Challenge (formerly called the Master Mixologist Contest) on the Lido deck with signups at 12:30 and the event at 1 p.m. I tried a submission on our Dream cruise and did not get picked, but I still have a photo of the official entry sheet, so for those of you interested - as long as it's still the same - here are your options:

IMG_0036-L.jpg

The winning drink for this cruise was called Tropical Kryptonite. Unfortunately, I didn't try it or even see what it looked like. It sounds yummy though!

The Dr. Suess "Suess at Sea" Suess-a-palooza Parade and Storytime was today at 3:15 p.m. There were a lot of kids on this sailing, and it seemed like this event was well-attended. This was held during our nap time, but please see other reviews if you're interested in these events.

There were two shows held in the Taj Mahal tonight - Heart of Soul at 8:15 and Getaway Island at 10:15. There were also four comedy shows in the Butterflies Lounge.

Lastly, tonight was Red's Caribbean Beach Party on the Lido deck. We did not attend, but there was dancing and giveaways from 10 p.m. until late for all ages.

After our nap, we headed down to the casino to hang out until dinner. AJ fed more money into the Great Inca, and at this point, I put my first $20 into a machine. By the time we were ready to head up to dinner, I was about $12 up.
