lovethesun22 Posted July 11, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 11, 2015 Anyone know why this shipped docked late. My Daughter is still waiting to board. .? Thanks
tokyo Posted July 11, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 11, 2015 There are 3 other ships in Southampton today. Maybe it planed on being late in to help with congestion in Southampton. The 3 other ships are due to leave a 16.30, whereas she is due to leave at 18.00 today.
FritzG Posted July 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 11, 2015 A poster on the Caribbean Princess roll call for today's cruise said the ship was late coming in due to some issues including "a swimmer", and they were still disembarking at 6:30 a.m. CC time. majortom10 Posted July 11, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 11, 2015 (edited) We were on this cruise and the main reason for the delay was bad weather and seas coming around Denmark and heading for North Sea so to avoid it Captain made decision to sail further west than planned before heading south to avoid it so therefore the 2 hour delay. We were told this by the Captain yesterday and the "swimmer" in the channel was not the reason just a slight delay. While on the subject we thought the food in MDR was good, buffet poor, entertainment choice poor and service througout the ship by bar staff very poor staff seemed miserable and short staffed especially International Cafe. We are Elite and it was the worst Princess cruise we have been on and she was very shabby in places. Edited July 11, 2015 by majortom10

We didnt arrive in Southampton until 9am and first disembarkers were the "walk off" at approx 9-30 ish and we were first coloured group off at just before 10ish. All UK times. We did a RCI cruise June and I could of written what you have about that cruise. Are all the lines slipping due to over capacity in Southampton possibly and selling cheap deals ? Hope this is not going to be the norm. Edited July 12, 2015 by lovethesun22
Stevesan Posted July 13, 2015 #9 Share Posted July 13, 2015 I recommend booking an airport hotel room for disembarkation day. An added cost, but worth it to eliminate worrying about flight times. For example, the Hilton at Heathrow. http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/united-kingdom/hilton-london-heathrow-airport-LHRAPTW/index.html?WT.srch=

Sometimes felt invisible. We too are elite but looking at others for our next cruise.

The swimmer was a cross channel swimmer. Had to slow down to avoid him and the safety boats. Delayed us by 20 minutes
