RCI Update Re: Changed Itineraries due to Rita

Tropical Weather Update

Royal Caribbean International continues to closely monitor the path and progress of Tropical Storm Rita to ensure our guests enjoy safe and comfortable cruises, and to make certain our ships steer clear of the storm.

 

The safety of our guests and crew is always the foremost concern of Royal Caribbean International.

 

Given Tropical Storm Rita's location and projected path, Royal Caribbean is currently altering the itineraries of four ships:

 

Ships sailing from the Port of Baltimore:

• Grandeur of the Seas will not make its scheduled port call in Key West, Florida, Tuesday, due to the closure of the port. Instead, the ship will sail directly to Cozumel, Mexico, where it will arrive on Tuesday afternoon.
  

Ships sailing from Port Canaveral:

• Mariner of the Seas will not make its scheduled port call in Nassau, Bahamas, today, due to the closure of the port. Instead, the ship will spend today at sea and provide a substitute port call in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Tuesday.
  
• Sovereign of the Seas will not make its scheduled port call in Coco Cay, Bahamas, Tuesday. Instead, the ship will spend Tuesday at sea and make a port of call in Coco Cay on Thursday.
  

Ships sailing from the Port of Miami:

• Majesty of the Seas will not make its scheduled port call in Nassau, Bahamas, Tuesday, due to the closure of the port. Instead, the ship will spend the day at sea.
  

At this time, no other Royal Caribbean International ships are being adversely impacted by tropical weather. Royal Caribbean will continue to closely monitor weather conditions and update this information at 6:30 p.m. today.

If they keep their announced schedule, they will have passed by the keys before the storm got there, and then perhaps after a day at Cozumel, if there isn't any serious damage, they can hit some of their normal stops on the way back.

We were on the Grandeur of the Seas when Hurrican Ophelia came thru and we had to miss Port Canaveral. Instead we had another day at sea, which made it three days of sea in a row, with a mighty angry ocean. We bypassed the storm and got ahead of it, and the waves were really beautfiul to watch, but alot of rocking and rolling was going on. There was no compensation for the missed port of call.

Does anyone remember the last time that Grandeur actually stopped in Port Canaveral? They must really be running low on even the normal stuff by now..
