I am still in love with cruising, and I am very happy to admit it!

You're going to discover as soon as you board the ship that CC NCL forum doesn't speak for the majority of NCL passengers. If anything the CC forum in general is extremely small population compare to the actual cruising public. What's ironic is although there's alot claiming to suite / Haven on this forum, on the actual ships its a small group sailing on the ship compare to the number of passengers in the mini-suites, balconies, oceanviews, interiors.

You're going to enjoy your trip and have fun - Trust me. :)

This is the most accurate post I've seen on these boards in ages!!!!

Absolutely true and to the point! I agree 100%. If any new cruiser

takes what they read on these boards as gospel, they are in for a big

surprise. Most cruisers on NCL ships (or any other cruise lines, for that

matter) have never heard of CC nor would they want to. So why I am reading it? Entertainment. Hats off to you, Maywell! :p

Ditto

This forum is tiny, I mean really tiny compared to the 30K plus who sail NCL every week.

Yes, true, and no one can speak for all cruisers, but like any poll, this forum is a great sampling of opinion which probably does represent the majority. If it were not, NCL and probably all cruise lines would not monitor them and respond here like they do. It's a great way for them to gauge the response of their customers on a variety of subjects.

For me, the "Honeymoon" is over. No more rose colored glasses, but I am still in a very committed relationship with cruising.:D.

OMG. I know what u mean OP. I started on RCCL like 2 years ago on Liberty of the Seas. IT was the best vacay I've ever had. And I travel a lot! Cruising never appealed to me...bc I'm not a drinker and all my friends say it's a booze cruise. We had a free cruise thru a land based casino so I took my sister to go with me......Love the all the food I can eat ad naseuam. The entertainment just like Vegas shows. The best service with a smile. And I literally stood on my balcony just looking at the water for hours.......no noise...no traffic....no work....no STRESS! I just got off the Getaway in February and have an Escape cruise planned for March. I get soooooo excited that I read all reviews(the good and bad) and I'm constantly on tapatalk.

So OP......I get what ya saying! [emoji5]️[emoji5]️[emoji5]️[emoji5]️

We never thought we would enjoy a cruise either. We had been invited several years ago by our friends and declined. I think we were not ready. Well how the tide has changed! It fits us to a "T" now.

DH and I went on our first cruise a few years ago and we fell in love with the whole concept- kit and caboodle. We still find it a "bargain" when we look at the luxury we experience on a cruise.

We have just returned from trying another line, enjoyed it tremendously, and we will be sailing in a week and a half on a different line. Our last NCL experience was on the Sun in Feb., and we then booked the Breakaway for next year. The Sun was a beautiful ship and trip.

I love the convenience of unpacking once, the service, the food and the variety of choices while being on the ocean travelling the world.

There are too much negative things to worry about in this world right now. When I think about an upcoming cruse it makes me happy- EVEN with all of the changes that may occur with policies and such. I hope we will be able to continue our love affair with cruising into our silver years.

Just wanted to say something positive for those who may be trying cruising for the first time. I still get the excited feeling before a cruise and want to tell others who may have never sailed- a cruise, like any other thing in life is usually what you make it to be! ;)

Hope you continue enjoying your new found love. We have been cruising for about 30 years and have over 30 cruises (the first few years we didn't cruise as much as now) we are still in love with it. Yes, we have been on all mass marketed lines and a few that are no longer sailing. NCL is the one we have settled on for many reasons, but each line has pros and cons.

Thank you, Diver2014, I winded up learning the 'truth' about CC on my very 1st cruise, then later on cemented when I sailed on NCL and I'm glad I did. Because it is a huge surprise how many people don't know about CC at all, they don't know about the articles and that it has forums where people post. Some people don't even know that NCL has a official website or bother reading news articles from USAToday, Yahoo Travel, etc - that should tell you something about actual real cruisers traveling on their ships.

If anything, use CC for research of the ships, ports and some expectation of life onboard but as actual gauge / measuring stick of cruisers sailing - NO, because most passengers on NCL are on their P & Q's; extremely polite to the point of helping anybody even the staff in the buffet; don't really complain about much; easy to have conversations with to point of talking about old age like its nothing, too busy having fun/ relaxing and dresscode goes from posh resort casual to bummy gym clothes & pajamas even at the specialty restaurants at night, let alone during the daytime. In other words, its Freestyle at it best and no one really cares how one looks as long as they are a nice person and not prickly because that really what you have to bring on a NCL cruise (or any cruise line for that matter) - being nice and positive attitude, that all.

Thank you for this post. My husband and I are booked on the Dawn for our New Years day tenth anniversary :) We have never taken a cruise or gone anywhere exotic, and for our budget this cruise was the best option. I DO like to research what/where/how for anything that we commit to do, but I ALWAYS take things with a grain of salt, because honestly we are just not very hard to please! The complaints that I see on this forum are largely things that I know won't affect our enjoyment in any way shape or form. We are as happy spending the night at a Motel 6 as we are a Marriott, which is the FANCIEST we have ever stayed ;) The MDRs, buffet and 24 hour joint will be MORE than sufficient for us. We have a 100 OBC and will get a few fruity drinks along the way, and the rest will be tea or water or whatever is free. We have one big shore excursion planned that is a MUST DO for us, one port we don't intend to leave ship and 2 ports that we plan to wander around and do on the cheap. And we will have a great time, because we have already decided to have a great time. :)

We have sailed the Dawn twice and you will have a great time! It is a very nice ship and we liked the Pub for trivia and karaoke! Enjoy!
