Heathrow to Southampton.

We have friends in the USA who are flying over for a cruise starting and finishing in Southampton. They have asked us for advice as to how they can get from the airport to Southampton.

 

In particular they say that the ship docks at 6:00 AM on a Saturday and ideally they will be looking to get to Heathrow for a home flight the same day. Can any of you knowledgeable people help with information for them?

We had family fly over from America to join us on a cruise starting and finishing in Southampton. They caught the National Express bus from Heathrow to Southampton and then it was a short taxi ride to the docks and then the same in reverse for going back to Heathrow.

 

The ship may dock at 6 am but passengers cannot get off at that time. I think the earliest is 7 am/7.30 am and then that is self disembarkation - you take all of your luggage off yourself.

One possibility would be taxi from the docks to Southampton station, fast train to Woking and then the rail-air coach link from Woking to Heathrow. But the National Express suggestion might be easier, especially if they'll have a lot of luggage, as it's one fewer change.

When we cruised from USA back to Southampton we left our car at Heathrow. We had a pre-booked taxi from Southampton back to heathrow. It was with Smiths for Airports a Southampton based company. They were very good, I would def recommend them & would use them again. They are happy to give a quote.

National Express coach is the way to go but allow plenty of time for getting off ship and to the coach terminal in Southampton and at the other end for the flight.
