Port Fees

Flat fee per port. Some ports change less for kids than they do for adults. (or maybe it's 3rd and 4th guests in a room, I forget) but they're set by the government of the port you're stopping in.

How is this determined? Is it a flat fee per port or does the fee depend on how long your ship is IN port?

Yes to all of the above. Each port sets its own fees and decides how to calculate them. Things include the length of the vessel, number of passengers, is a pilot used, are tugs used, what supplies are taken on board, including fuel and water, and the list goes on and on.

"Port fees" (those taxes, fees, and port expenses imposed by governmental or quasi-governmental authorities, as well as third party fees and charges, arising from a vessel’s presence in a harbor or port) are most commonly calculated on a per ton or per vessel basis and that expense is most commonly spread across a ship’s total number of passengers.

It is not based on the duration of time spent in port.

Thank you and everyone else who answered my question!
