guxu Posted July 20, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 20, 2015 (edited) Sailed Valor last week and we had a great time. Before the cruise, I was a little worried because Valor is a little old, no 2.0, no Guys burger. But once onboard, everything was fine. It had been two years since our previous Carnival cruise. I expected lots of cut backs based on the posts here. But I did not see any, except no past passenger party for me (gold) which I did not care anyway. Bread baskets were put on table. I think in some cruises, the waiters held the bread baskets and walked around asking if anyone wanted bread. Been Cozumel so many times, I thought I knew everything (I rented a Jeep and drove around the island before). But this time we took an island tour (because there were 1st time cruisers in our party) and I still learned a lot of new things. We tried many times before, but we never won any ship on the stick. (I know I could request one but I just want to win it.) This time, we won 2. Also no need to collect Fun Times since the PDF version can be downloaded free. joepeka Posted July 20, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Like you, we've been away from Carnival for a few years but are looking to return soon. So it's encouraging to hear a positive report. Thanks! :)
JawjaFatBoy Posted July 20, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 20, 2015 This is good to hear as we will be on the Valor in September and my DW was a little concerned since it hasn't received the 2.0 upgrades. Regardless, I'm looking forward to this trip!
guxu Posted July 20, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted July 20, 2015 Also, a good camera bag is a must. I bought a $40 Lowepro before this cruise. The bag was dropped not once, but twice (from chest/shoulder height to solid surface:mad:) by someone in our group. My new DSLR, two lens, a small camera (in unpadded component but in its small bag), and a small laptop (in unpadded component but in its own sleeve case) all survived. There were several chargers in unpadded component too. But I have not tested them:(.
