christinacruisin Posted July 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 23, 2015 If you don't have FTTF and haven't cruised enough to have early embarkation, approximately how long is it until you can go to your cabin and how long until luggage is delivered? We do plan on arriving at port early (10 ish).
Shelby0208 Posted July 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 23, 2015 Cabins become available around 1, luggage comes a few hours later
SadieN Posted July 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 23, 2015 Boarding usually begins around 11:30.
D4 Posted July 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 23, 2015 Be sure to bring anything you want to have the first day in your carryon, because your luggage may not arrive until 6:00 or later. (Swimsuits, sunscreen). If you're flying, just move those items to your carryon before you give your luggage to the porters. Don't worry about dressing for dinner the first night - tshirts and shorts are okay because of the luggage issue.
Vitamin_Sea Posted July 23, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 23, 2015 We sailed Splendor 3 weeks ago out of NYC. Got to the port 215pm. No one on line. Was beautiful.
DaisyGirl55 Posted July 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 23, 2015 As others have said, your room will be open between 1 and 1:30. Be mindful of your non-checked luggage (carry-ons) as they can get cumbersome to lug around as you eat, explore the ship, go out by the pool and so on. It is great to board early, but not so great to have to walk around all of the suitcases. Dinner is definitely casual your first night in the MDR - shorts, flip flops and so on are the norm...so much so that even if your luggage does get delivered, many folks will just stay uber-casual the first night. Enjoy your cruise, and relax somewhere quiet on the ship until the rooms are ready works out for the best. Then you can drop off your stuff, and go off and explore and have a drink up on the deck. Your luggage will get there soon enough.
springs741 Posted July 23, 2015 #7 Share Posted July 23, 2015 Hubby and I would often wait to arrive at the terminal until 1:30 or so. If boarding started on time by then the lines were down and the rooms ready. I understand wanting to get your vacation started BUT by not having to wait in line and not having to deal with luggage until rooms were ready started the vacation in a very relaxed mode. If we would have gone early there would have been lines and waiting to board.
