augies Posted July 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted July 24, 2015 What's the earliest flight time we can make when ship docks in Southampton after the British Isles cruise? The ship arrives at 5 am. Is 12:45 doable? Thanks.
fishywood Posted July 24, 2015 #2 Share Posted July 24, 2015 Straight from the Princess website: Flight Guidelines Disembarking PassengersFor voyages arriving in Southampton at 5:00 am, the earliest flight departure from Heathrow is 12:00 pm, the earliest flight departure from Gatwick is 12:30 pm, and the earliest train departure from Victora Coach Station is 11:30 am. So you are just within Princess guidelines for using their transfer. You absolutely want to be at Heathrow more than three hours before flight time. Most international carriers have earlier cut-off times for baggage check and your check-in at Heathrow than for the inbound flight from wherever you are from. Greensboro Posted July 24, 2015 #3 Share Posted July 24, 2015 We did this last summer. It takes some time to get off the ship and wait for their transfer bus to fill up prior to departing the port. Seems like the trip to the airport was about 2-3 hours. You are heading to a large busy airport with several different buildings. It took us awhile to figure were to go and how to find correct location to check bags and check boarding passes. If you have a choice I would recommend a later flight so you do not have to rush too much. Seems like our flight home departed between 3-4 pm. emmak8 Posted July 25, 2015 #4 Share Posted July 25, 2015 I would book a later flight and not be a nervous wreck. Traffic into London can have unexpected delays. What if the ship is later docking?
HRPro Posted July 25, 2015 #5 Share Posted July 25, 2015 (edited) I think you'll be fine with a 12:45 flight. We just came back from a BI cruise and had a 2:30 flight from Heathrow. We had one of the latest departure times from the ship at 9:30 and were at Heathrow by 11:00, so with an earlier flight you will likely have a 7:30 or 8:00 am departure, which should get you to Heathrow by 9:30--plenty of time to make a 12:45 flight. We did take the Princess Transfer from Southampton to Heathrow, and the buses left right on schedule. dw64 Posted July 27, 2015 #6 Share Posted July 27, 2015 We had a 12:30 flight in May. We had plenty of time at the airport. Even had time to sit in the Delta Crown roof & eat before our flight. 12:45 is doable. Don't worry.
