Just Off Breeze as Well

We are also just off Breeze this morning. We have been on over 20 cruises on all different cruise lines. This was our 7th Carnival cruise.

What did we think?

1) Arrived at Port. What a mess. Just mayhem. The worst we have experienced. We loved Faster to the Fun but didn't buy this time. There was about 20 minutes between when FTF was allowed to board and when our number was called. I know there are some other perks but getting priority boarding is a big one. Those who purchased Faster to Fun will have to let you know if it was really worth it on breeze.

2) Room was one of biggest we have ever had. Outside window. 2 showers were nice.

3) The two pools are not enough for the number of people. They were packed. Add some kids and you have some more mayhem

I would shake my head at how many people would be in the pool. Thought there were some safety regulations but guess not.

4) Lots of times hot tubs had kids with their scuba gear on as they must have been bored with water slides.

5) Italian for lunch was excellent in a really great spot.

6) We did get drink coupon as repeaters and I think this left me with a bad impression. You were allowed up to 9.00 per drink. My wife ordered a Long Island Ice Tea and it was $9.25. I ordered a Pina Coloma which was 7.95. I was asked for my Sail and Sign card and was charged .25cents plus the .4 cent tip. I know some might say rules are rules. If Carnival let every repeater order a drink which was .25 cents over it would cost them thousands...I probably paid more for this cruise than any other. I purchased drinks..t shirts ..coffees ..those funnel cakes at cafe and Internet packages and lost money at Casino and paid the recommended tips for 3 people almost 300.00 even though I was not completely satisfied with some of service received and someone at Carnival felt that I don't deserve that 25 cents. I would suspect it cost them more to print the receipt and do the accounting for it..sorry I just don't get that one.

Stay tuned as there were some things we really liked about Breeze.

We also have FTTF for our January cruise. You mentioned the pasta place - Pasta Bella? - how crowded was it on embarkation day? If not too crowded might go there for lunch on that day...

Cucina is the Italian restaurant on Breeze. Free for lunch, $15 pp charge for dinner. DH and I ate there for lunch on embarkation day and it was a ghost town, nobody learns about it until later in the cruise.

We have FTTF on breeze in 3 weeks. What time did you board and when was your room ready? Since the room being ready for FTTF is a perk.

I am just off the Breeze 8 day as well and had FTTF. Embarkation was a hot mess. People everywhere crowding the aisle. Could barely get through to board. Almost got trampled on the escalator. The port needs to do a better job with crowd management. With FTTF it was nice having a priority line to check in to obtain your Sail and Sign and going through security. We boarded about 12:30, because people were still getting off the ship from the previous cruise close to 12. I was in a Spa Balcony on the 12th floor. Once on the ship I went straight to my room. I noticed getting off the elevator that our luggage was sitting in the hallway ready to be delivered. The room was ready and we were able to drop our carry on off and head to lunch. Went to guest services a few times so having the priority line was a plus. I would say it was worth it.

From what I've read about embarkation on the Dream, if you aren't platinum/diamond or have FTTF, then heeding those e-mails from Carnival saying to arrive after 1:30 isn't such a bad idea...

I had the same boarding experience on the Breeze in May. What a cluster f%$! One of if not the worst embarkations ever. We are platinum and it was a mess. Waited in platinum lounge until approximately 11ish then they moved all of us upstairs to a different lounge. We finally were allowed to board around 11:45ish and they led us through mobs of people who didnt understand what was going on and just merged into line with us. They need to rethink that whole embarkation process for the Breeze!

I have never liked the boarding process in Miami. Have now been on six Platinum cruises, two FTTF, and a GS Priority boarding.

Tampa, San Juan and Port Canaveral all seem to have it under control, Miami not so much.

Agreed- this experience just sounds like general Miami to me. We have had an experience or two where it was organized and calm, but most were not. Tampa was a much better experience.

We loved the Breeze. I'm hoping it gets transferred to Galveston.

It already did.:rolleyes::rolleyes:

It will be there next spring/summer.

LUCKY!!!!:D:D

It's our favorite ship.....

But, we finally get to try out Sunshine from NYC next summer.

Looking forward to it..

We just got off the Breeze on the 18th in Miami and we had FTTF. Yes, it's totally worth it just because of the mayhem in Miami. People are so packed in it helps to have a designated line and then to get out of the crowd faster. The only kink in it was that two of our bags were in our room when we got there but the third (mine) didn't arrive until after dinner. This was annoying because I had been in the same clothes all day and would have liked to change for dinner. It also gave us priority on the tender boats for Grand Cayman and also disembarkation. I would purchase it again.

7) We really liked the room service. You order it through television in room and Deliverywas very prompt.

8) Majority of staff were very friendly and helpful. I ordered an omelet and while he was handing it to me someone came up and took the plate right out of his hand and scampered. The cook was really apologetic and he didn't do anything wrong.

9) Unfortunately lots of pushing and shoving but there were acts of politeness. We were in the crowd shuffling along going to gangway to get off ship and it was lots of pushing. My family and I always get separated because I have a real hard time pushing and shoving. The elevators were dropping people and they were just pushing and shoving ..one lady getting off elevator grabbed her husband by the hand and said come on dear we will go to back of line. If she is reading this. Thank you for your consideration.

10) The Carnival chair hog rule is a fail? I never saw this enforced. I saw one lady very early one morning take a fill row of 16 chairs.

11) No glass in the pool or hot tub unless the Carnival waiter serves it to you.

12) Marketplace food not that great. Not a lot of selection and sometimes just not very appealing.

13) loved the funnel cake at the cafe it was worth the 2.25.

14) We did watch our account on TV through out week and would keep putting more cash on if we spent money. I did give my credit card but didn't expect it to be needed for anything. Carnival doesn't give you a hard copy of your final statement on departure day but you can view on TV as well as get a copy. I was all clear so I thought. Today I see a charge on my credit card. I called Carnival and was told the charge was for 3 towels. Needless to say I was not happy. We returned our towels to pool deck and I made sure I saw her cross out my name and room number. They of course are reversing the charge but again leaves me with a bad impression. Charge you for something after you leave the ship and forcing you to follow up. Is this practice not a little shady.

Stay tuned more comments to follow.

Been on breeze twice and Miami several times, never an issue getting on or off ship.. Just saying...sometimes people can never be pleased...

... or maybe you've just been lucky.

Have only been to POM once, and I would rate it one of our least pleasant experiences.

Embarkation was a cluster, even with DH being platinum. And even though debarkation went relatively quick - I'm not sure what good being in zone 2 was and getting off quick when they couldn't seem to get our luggage onto the carousel in a timely fashion. Took exactly 1 hr for it to finally arrive. During this time we noticed LOTS of other zone 1/2's searching same as us. Have NEVER experienced anything like that in all our cruises.

The next time I get on a big ship, I must remember to get upset waiting in lines to check in:eek: People here can't wait a minute for anything anymore. I've been in line waiting to board, it was part of my experience. I guess some of us look at things differently. The last time I boarded a big ship, I was late getting there due to transportation. I walked in, checked in and on the ship. I felt like something was missing!:D

Was on the July 12th sailing of the Breeze as well. We had F2F plus we were in a suite. Boarding was super easy. Arrived around 10:30 to no real line. Boarding started around 12:00pm and we were on in less than five minutes. We were off the ship with no issue as well. I found F2F to be well worth it. The Guest Service line was always super long and being able to go the F2F line that only had one or two people in it! I'm back on the Breeze the week of August 23rd!

Amen!!! Waiting in line to check in never bothers me one bit and I also look at it as a part of the experience. The line moves fairly quickly in Miami during the embarkation process anyway.

Now the debarkation was an absolute disaster though!! Hardly any working elevators and I had our carry on luggage, umbrella stroller, carseat, and a 3 year old. I'm not looking forward to that process again but she'll be a year older this time and we're on deck 1 so it should be much easier this time. We shall see!

We were also on this cruise Embark was a mess. Glad we had FTTF. Debark was the quickest we have ever gotten off a ship. we also place our luggage outside our room for debark so normally takes awhile to get off the ship, not this time.

I agree about the pools, they are to small.

Service was excellent everywhere we went on the ship.

We ate in the Steakhouse one night, food and service were excellent.

We ate in the Italian place one night. Food was ok, service was excellent.

This was our 2nd time on the Breeze, we really love the ship.

The kids said this was their favorite cruise.

Just got off the Breeze on Saturday and we didn't have any problems with embarkation or debarkation. We got there are 12:30 pm and there were tons of people, but they called our Zone relatively quickly and we did have to wait in line, but it wasn't bad at all. If we cruise on Carnival again, we will definitely purchase FTTF though.

I guess I am a lucky person because I have sailed out of Miami a dozen times and it always has been a much better experience than every other port I have been out of.

I was on this cruise...I think the big issue with embarkation was there were multiple weddings and guests not cruising that needed to board then get off. Also, there were a few "touring groups" that appeared to assume that being a part of the groups means they got to board before Platinum/Diamond or FTTF cruisers.
