Clarkk W Griswald Posted August 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 4, 2015 Anyone been to Sapphire beach lately? this used to be our favorite beach in St Thomas, but the last time we were there, it was so run down. Only a tiny snack shop with no alcohol, and the restrooms were in very poor shape. Years ago, they used to have a nice bar with food right by the beach. So if anyone out there has been lately, let me know your thoughts. Thanks!!
beautifulbill Posted August 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 4, 2015 The old bar area is still closed but there is a grill, Banana Cabana, right on the beach between the B and C buildings that serves food and drinks. There is also a full service restaurant, Sapphire Grill, up the hill at the Village. There is also a very good food truck at the top of the hill that specializes in barbeque foods that is good. Wait staff is on the beach from Banana Cabana and the Grill and will deliver food and drinks. The resort is refurbishing one or two buildings a year and the A, B and D building have been done and work is now being done on the E building. If you look for it you can still see improvements that need to be done but the beach is still beautiful and you will not starve or dehydrate while on the beach. sad549s Posted August 8, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 8, 2015 Are there any restrooms that have been opened? The last time we were there the restrooms were closed.
blue_water Posted August 8, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 8, 2015 (edited) Yes there are restrooms and there have always been places to buy food and drinks. Sapphire is home to 2 condo properties and not a full-service resort. So as long as you're looking for a gorgeous beach with good snorkeling and a dive center with rentals, nice island views, abundant natural shade, and a few good food and drink choices you will enjoy Sapphire. If looking for a hotel experience consider the Best Western in Lindbergh Bay or the Ritz Carlton. Edited August 8, 2015 by blue_water
