lovingCCL Posted August 11, 2015 #26 Share Posted August 11, 2015 I have had 2 different upgrades. First, I got a call 3 days before the cruise to upgrade to a suite from a balcony for $500. I took that because it was my daughters' 18th birthdays and we had 4 people in the room so I wanted the extra space. I received an email the next time. We had an interior on the lido booked and they offered us a balcony for $150 total to upgrade to the 10th deck. We always book directly on Carnival.com and usually book early saver. love my grandkids Posted August 11, 2015 #27 Share Posted August 11, 2015 can I call them and tell them I would like to be considered? If so how is it done? Some years ago was told you can ask to have your reservation so coded but not sure that is really correct.
Surrealistic Posted August 11, 2015 #28 Share Posted August 11, 2015 I have always booked online directly, except for our first Carnival cruise that we used a TA. We got the call twice. Once to upsell us to a jr suite from a balcony and we weren't interested. Got the call yesterday to upgrade to a 8k balcony from a 4k interior...........well worth it! The confirmation email was from a Carnival Stateroom Sales Specialist at the Miami HQ. HTH.
jamscckmc Posted August 11, 2015 #29 Share Posted August 11, 2015 In May on the Pride. Paid $740pp ES for a 4K french door interior. A week before call from Carnival offering a premium balcony for $300 total. I booked with a PVP a but it wasn't him that called. They said that it just depends on what the inventory has and what they can sell. If they have a lot of guarantee cabins to assign and need more interiors or balconies than they have they will try and move people around. Sometimes the upsell is a good deal. Sometimes it's more than if you had booked it in the first place.
13cheermom Posted August 11, 2015 #30 Share Posted August 11, 2015 The first time we were contacted was by phone call to upgrade to lido balcony from the extra long bowling alley balcony cabin. Declined because we booked that cabin specifically for that reason. The last one was via email, and when I clicked on the upgrade offer once again it was to move from another extra long balcony to the lido deck balcony, once again declined. The only time we are contacted is when they feel the cabin we have is more desirable than what they are offering, (at least in my opinion). Never have received any upgrade offers for an interior room switch (now that we would consider). We always book online directly with Carnival for all cruises.
