CanadaJulie Posted August 9, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 9, 2015 Not sure I understand some of the pricing of the bus zones. There is a price for 3 zone or 14 zone. What do I need to pay if I am leaving the Dockyard and going to Sommerset, which is in the next zone ? (not sure if the 3 zone thing is specific to a certain area or is it "if your destination is less than 3 zones from your departure, you pay the 3 zone rate")

So if you pay cash in coins it will be $3.50, with a 3-zone token $2.75 or $1.66 if you buy the 3-zone bus ticket booklet (book of 15 tickets). Make sense? If you buy the ticket books and split the tickets up among your group, generally comes out the cheapest way all around.
justcake Posted August 19, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 19, 2015 For some reason we only paid $3.00 cash fare from Somerset. I wonder why the link shows $3.50.
njhorseman Posted August 19, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) For some reason we only paid $3.00 cash fare from Somerset. I wonder why the link shows $3.50. When did you go take your bus trip? Fares increased on April 1, 2015. $3.50 cash for a 3 zone ride is the correct current fare. If you buy a token, the fare is $2.75. justcake Posted August 19, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 19, 2015 It was on the 13th. Actually I guess we ripped them off[emoji33] we weren't planning on taking the bus back but decided afterwards to do so. I got the rate from the map H20 had given us and it was the old rate. I'm surprised the bus driver didn't notice.

It's the government's money, not theirs, and there are years and years of bad blood between the bus drivers' union and the government. For example, the government has wanted to make changes to the bus schedules and work rules for years and the union has consistently refused to allow any substantive changes.
