What is "the hump"?

Exactly what is the hump? And why is it so desirable? Read alot about it, people seem excited about it, what is it?:confused:

The hump are those cabins near the rear centrum and/or elevators. If you look on the deck plans of Voyager class ships you will notice these cabins stick out and form a 'hump' on the side of the ship. We had the center cabin (6620) and loved that we could see either end of the ship.

In reading other posts - I guess the Radiance class ships also have a hump...

I can't even repeat what my fellow workers said when I told them I was so excited that I got a hump cabin. The non-cruisers that I work with just don't understand.
