Promise of a future TR on Liberty of the Sea to Bermuda

I am fresh from my very first Jimmy Buffett concert where I learned a lot about myself – I don’t know the first thing about how to tailgate at a Buffett concert! We thought it was a great way to start the countdown to our next Bermuda cruise that leaves on Saturday and would get us in the island frame of mind.

I never imagined the elaborate bars (including blenders for frozen drinks and grills with more food than you could ever eat in a lifetime) could be set up in a parking lot so quickly. The people dressed in some of the best costumes I’ve ever seen with some so elaborate I can’t mention them in this posting (if you get my point). Our little group was quite tame compared to most. I thought I was going out of a ledge with foot long sub sandwiches, chips and a six pack of wine coolers… not even close I soon learned!

A lot of groups took us under their wings, as newbies to the scene, to show us how it’s really done. There was one group that set up the back of a pickup truck as a water slide. If you couldn’t bounce the ping pong ball into the shot glass of tequila and answer a Buffett trivia question correctly - you had to ride down the slide while you drank the shot and they dumped ice water on your head. Unfortunately I didn’t study for the test beforehand and I ended up taking quite a few rides down this slide… well you get the picture (sorry - no actual pictures of this one to share). More importantly, I just started my Dramamine doses that I hope will help me not only during the cruise but starting now to fight off the queasiness from this concert! What a blast and memories I will take to my grave. :D

Have you ever been? Do share the details….

Oh wait… never mind… I just remembered… what happens at a Buffett concert stays at a Buffett concert but - it’s safe to say I plan on keeping a low profile for the next couple of days to recover from this concert experience.

I sure hope that I remember to pack everything we need to make this trip on the Liberty of the Sea a huge success. I promise to try to remember as many of the details as possible and will post my TR upon our return that hopefully will help others the way I have been helped in CC when trying to plan a cruise.

With that being said, time to go make more of that “crazy concoction to help me hang on” COFFEE!!!

Stay tuned, hope lady luck is on your side in the casino and happy sailing! Cindy

Thanks, Cindy! I look forward to hearing how the casino treats you, both in terms of the games and the staff.

What kind of player are you? Tables? Slots?

I'd be curious to get an idea of what kind of slot machines they have onboard. From what I've seen from some Youtube videos, it looks like they have a relatively decent selection, although perhaps not as up to date as a land-based casino, but not as out of date as Independence of the Seas was.

We'll be on Liberty this Saturday, you know I'll be spending some time in the casino, are you more interested in reels or video slots?

Hi Linda,

Thanks for helping out with the casino information for the Liberty of the Sea. I will be anxiously awaiting your response/review. I am interested in any kind of slot machines available! I admit - I'm hooked but it's a fun way to pass the time and there is always a chance that you could win your fortune :D.

I was wondering if you have cruised to Bermuda with Royal Caribbean before and if so - do they open the casino while in port? I thought I had seen a posting that they don't open the casino while in Bermuda - but I can't seem to locate that posting now that I need it.

Thanks again and I hope lady luck shines upon you!

I did NCL to Bermuda, but I cannot fathom RCL being different. The law was changed in Bermuda to allow ships to open their casinos at 9:00 pm each night. I have to assume that RCL is taking advantage of that change in the law since they helped drive it.

Unfortunately, I have read that RCL did not purchase the license for Liberty of the Seas due to the cost of the license and the number of days LOTS is actually in the Bermuda port. Thus, no casino while docked!

I stand corrected. Have never done RCL.....Thanks!

I also found it pretty interesting that the casino would be closed in Bermuda especially on a comp sailing from a casino.

I never thought about it being the lucky cruise but you could be right... less money lost in the machines for me! I guess I won't be getting any special invite back from a casino host with our coin in limited to only sea days due to port closing - oh well - better luck next cruise I suppose :)

My preference is mostly recent video slots, especially with attainable progressives, but I also like reels with features, such as Top Dollar.

Thanks for any info you can share!

I will be checking out *all* slots and will report back. I will post my slot findings on the thread you started in this forum for RCI offers.

We will be on the same ship and sail date so no need for me to respond or review on the casino.

Yes, we have been to Bermuda numerous times. I am hoping we have good weather as the forecast is currently showing rain for the days we'll be there.

The casino will be close while we are docked in Bermuda. I already asked Club Royale back in May and this was their response to me.

Hello Linda,

Thank you for your patience while we awaited response for the ship on whether or not the casino was able to open while in port. Unfortunately the casino is not allowed to stay open while overnight in Bermuda. There was only one season that the Explorer of the Seas was allowed to be open while in port which is why there are so many mixed answers out there. But I do have a 100% confirmation that the Liberty of the Seas is not allowed to open while docked in Bermuda, at this time.

Regards,

Joshua
