biojeep Posted August 18, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 18, 2015 I have been trying to get recent info, photos, etc of Harvest Caye since we are scheduled to go there in Jan. 2016 but have not been able to find out much. Anyone have some info to share?
Demonyte Posted August 18, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 18, 2015 It's only planned to open later this year - nobody has been there yet. A lengthy thread here: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2164530
GORDONCHICK Posted August 18, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 18, 2015 Now, the plan is for it to open in February of 2016. So you will probably be going to Belize City instead.
gymbomb Posted August 18, 2015 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2015 I read on another thread here that it is now not scheduled to open until Feb. 2016. Many cruises are going to Belize City instead.
Jay Sam Posted August 18, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 18, 2015 Now, the plan is for it to open in February of 2016. So you will probably be going to Belize City instead. Thanks for the update. Have been to Belize City and don't care to go back. The new port sounds like somewhere I would like to visit.
GORDONCHICK Posted August 18, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 18, 2015 Thanks for the update. Have been to Belize City and don't care to go back. The new port sounds like somewhere I would like to visit. And I prefer Belize City because there are so many more options. We aren't hang out on the beach people.
motleyfan Posted August 18, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 18, 2015 And I prefer Belize City because there are so many more options. We aren't hang out on the beach people. I'm the same way when there is a lot to do in port I usually like to be pretty active
Linda the Book Lover Posted August 18, 2015 #8 Share Posted August 18, 2015 I put a few Harvest Caye excursions on my list and also looking at independent excursions should Harvest Cay not be ready to open in April.
pspercy Posted August 18, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 18, 2015 The current shorex offerings for Belize are pitiful, hope they add some more before December:)
GORDONCHICK Posted August 18, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 18, 2015 The current shorex offerings for Belize are pitiful, hope they add some more before December:) We always book independents, and there's no shortage.
escentialssoycandles Posted August 18, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 18, 2015 The current shorex offerings for Belize are pitiful, hope they add some more before December:) I always book off ship in advance for excursions. Depending on your level of adventure - the Butts Up River Tubing and Zip Line Tour was the highlight of all of my ports and excursions. $60 and also included lunch
kitten3008 Posted August 19, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 19, 2015 We have our fingers crossed - we ARE sit on the beach people, and we sail February 13th on the Jade, first cruise available for the Harvest Caye itinerary. We won't mind getting bumped to Belize City, but we're hopeful!
spidybabe Posted August 19, 2015 #13 Share Posted August 19, 2015 (edited) And I prefer Belize City because there are so many more options. We aren't hang out on the beach people. We aren't beach/ water people when on vacation either. We never did this itinerary before, and welcome any suggestions/options. We usually do not use ship tours, but I am always afraid of missing the ship when going far away from port. Appreciate any and all help for Belize City, Cozumel, roaton bay, and costa maya. Thanks in advance Safe sailing Edited August 19, 2015 by spidybabe

Ours are crossed too and we sail on 2/14 on the Dawn so if it's ready don't tear it down before we get there.:D

I'll keep DH and his brother on short leashes, they're more likely to make a ruckus than our 8 year old, lol!
Vacationdreamer<>< Posted August 19, 2015 #16 Share Posted August 19, 2015 I google for Harvest Caye info every few weeks. It's like an information desert. We're to go in May. I wish NCL would copy a Castaway Cay design.
