Excursion to Nevis from the pier?

Have always headed to a beach on St. Kitts so never really paid attention to the tours being offered at the pier. This trip we want to try heading to Nevis. I have found a couple tours on line but really don't want to commit this far out.

Question, are there operators at the pier that offer tours to Nevis? Any idea of cost? Thanks.

You will not have much luck finding a tour operator offering a tour of Nevis from Port Zante in St Kitts. There are catamaran tours with snorkeling that go to Nevis but they are usually offered only through the ships excursion desk and you really do not see much of Nevis except for the beach that you have lunch on.

Thanks. Not interested in ship tours, usually way to crowded for us. May just have to book with an online operator. There are a few with good reviews to choose from. Thanks again.

They do a great job doing what they do as does the other operator Leeward Island. You will sail along the SE Peninsula to ****ten Bay for snorkeling then over to Nevis for lunch on Pinneys Beach. You will be near the Four Seasons, Sunshines and a few other beach bar/restaurants.

Paul,

Is it feasible to take one of the ferries over to Nevis and return (obviously depends on ship's stay in St Kitts) and still have a decent interval of time on the island? Once there are there tours of the island or particular places to visit other than beaches and resorts?

There are things to see on Nevis. My favorites are the plantation inns. Montpelier, The Hermitage, Golden Rock and Nisbet Plantation. There is the Botanical Gardens, Baths Hot Springs. You will find taxis at the ferry dock in Charlestown that will offer tours of Nevis at a reasonable cost. It is a 45 min ferry ride each way. The big thing is how long you are in port and when your ship leaves.

We are taking a tour with Funky Monkey in Nevis. We do need to get to Nevis from St. Kitts. Paul58, would like to know your thoughts on the water taxi and public ferry. All information you have at this time would be helpful. Need to know the directions to get to their locations also from docking. We are leaving on the Royal Caribbean in two weeks.

It is my understanding that a water taxi is costly, but only takes 15 minutes to get to Nevis. The public ferry takes 45 minutes, but much less costly. We dock in St. Kitts 7am-5pm. Need to be in Nevis at 8:45am for reserved excursion. Can we take one method of transportation one way and then return another, if wanted? Say, take the public ferry going and the water taxi returning. Is the water taxi one set price or is it per person charge?

I did not see this post before when I commented on your next post. You can take the ferry one way and a water taxi on the return. There is a 8 am ferry from St Kitts to Nevis. There is a car ferry that leaves Nevis at 3 pm for St Kitts. The car ferry leaves Nevis from Cades Bay which is not that far from your destination in Nevis. You would have to get a taxi from Majors Bay in St Kitts back to the cruise ship pier. It can be done.

I booked with Blue Water Safaris. They are next to our pier. It is an all day trip to Nevis which includes lunch, snorkel and beach on Pinney's Beach. Cost for two was $190.00.

When do you go OC PAT? I looked at Blue Water Safaris website and it is interesting. We don't get there until March 2016

We will be in St Kitts in 2 weeks and we seem to have plenty of time to take the ferry to Nevis. Once we get there can we walk around and see anything on our own? We don't plan to be there too long but have been to St Kitts several times and wanted to do something different.

The ferry dock in Nevis is near the center of Charlestown. Walk off the pier and go straight ahead. Along the bay road,(Low Street) to your left about 350 yards is the birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. There is much to see & do on Nevis. You can see much of the island in an hour or so.
