Hi everyone, has anyone stayed in cabin F318 onboard P & O Ventura. It's a single cabin that backs onto explorers bar. I'm just a bit concerned about the noise transfer from there.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

I have stayed in cabin F314 which is next door and, unless P&O have done considerable work to solve the problems it was the worst cabin I have had on a P&O ship. In my opinion it was not fit for purpose :( On the first night there were so many creaks and squeaks from inside the walls and ceilings that i found it impossible to sleep. I reported it to reception next morning and they moved me immediately without even arguing about it. My next cabin was an outside single on the same deck and it was better, but still pretty bad.

I believe the problem was that the cabins were installed after the ship was finished so there were lots of panels and beams etc rubbing together when the ship moved. When a Cunard ship had similar cabins retrofitted they did not sell them for months after installation, probably while the noises were eliminated!. Of course you can only do this when the ship is moving, not in a dockyard.

I now have a double cabin for single occupancy, which, apart from being bigger, is only a few pounds more expensive.

Hi,

In sept 2014 I stayed in F328 it was the second cabin down from reception and backed on to the bar. It was the best single cabin I have stayed in. I was not aware of any noise from the bar at all, if any noise complaint it was the cabin next door. They were a young couple of whom I heared everything down too "you do understand this is a holiday thing I have a girlfriend back home!"

And before anyone gets on a soap box, yes it was a single cabin and po were aware there were two people in there and only one life jacket.

It's a great sized cabin, the ones on the outside have much less room but the added benefit of a window.

The beds are closer to 3/4 size and much more roomier than a standard single, bathroom is standard and the wardrobe arangement was opposite side of the room. There is tons of storage in these cabins, more than in the standard balcony for 2.

It may depend on the cruise and what's going on in the bar, I can only speak for my experience, and for me it was a great cabin.

I hope you have a fab time.

X h

I cant speak for F318 but I`ve stayed in F308 on Azura

I heard footsteps on the tiled floor as people walked in and out of the casino but never heard any noise from the pub / casino

I`ve also stayed in F304 / F306 and heard noise from The Glasshouse above in which I heard people moving chairs / footsteps - Not enough to deter me from picking that cabin type again

I will echo the point about the single insides being a great cabin, certainly didnt feel claustrophobic or cut off - I would have that cabin again if Azura was going where I wanted it to go too

Did stay in F306 on Ventura and although it was a nice cabin, Ventura "single cabins" were added years after the ship was built, probably wouldnt go for it again as it felt very cheap compared to Azura

Thanks for the replies.we are taking my 80 year old mom with us on this cruise; it will be her first one, we don't want her to have the single cabin and then have a bad experience due to noise. She's not the best sleeper as it is. Therefore we are trying to decide if she would be better sharing with me and hubby takes the single; he's more than happy to do this or, let her have the single and see how she gets on. Decisions, decisions!
