SammySH Posted August 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2015 Anyone have first hand experience in rooms 2250-2297 on the Sunshine? Did you hear any noise from the Galley?
KLD1019 Posted August 23, 2015 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2015 i cant speak for the sunshine, but i can speak for the cove balconies on the dream that are right under the galley. was in one 2 weeks ago. noisy. all night long. sounded like they were right on the balconies moving around the chairs and tables. our friends always get coves, and said it was never an issue for them. we liked visiting their cove last year, so we booked one this year. i dont think we'll book one for next years. loved it, except for the galley noise
Familycruisers20 Posted August 23, 2015 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2015 Was on her in June and my friends had 2 cabins midship deck 2 under galley and never said a word about noise. I, on the other hand, was aft deck 2 just beyond the mid ship section, and the noise and vibration from the docking ropes on port days woke me up every time....and the art closet was across the hall and who knew they change the art out in the halls every darn day in the middle of the night!! SammySH Posted August 24, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted August 24, 2015 Supposedly since the Sunshine has been refurbished, the cabins are more sound proof... This is what I've been told from my PVP. Is he just feeding me a line?
travler27 Posted August 24, 2015 #5 Share Posted August 24, 2015 I bet most PVP's have never even been on a cruise ship. :p
riclop Posted August 24, 2015 #6 Share Posted August 24, 2015 They will tell you anything to book you. Don't believe them because it will be noisy!!!.
kimmimom Posted August 24, 2015 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2015 Heard a little banging, but not enough to wake me and definitely didn't ruin my cruise
SammySH Posted August 24, 2015 Author #8 Share Posted August 24, 2015 What cabin # were you in kimmimom?
Rare stevenr597 Posted August 24, 2015 #9 Share Posted August 24, 2015 Unless everybody in your party are very heavy sleepers and can sleep through anything, I would strongly suggest you book another room. To save some money is not worth being in a noisy room that one cannot wait to get out of.
cruzeluver Posted August 24, 2015 #10 Share Posted August 24, 2015 That is interesting. When we called Carnival to book (not with a PVP, just a regular phone rep) the rep told me she would highly recommend midship on deck 2 for an ocean view specifically to avoid galley noise. 7upp Posted August 24, 2015 #11 Share Posted August 24, 2015 PVP is smoking PCP if they think a cabin under the galley isn't noisy!
kelkel2 Posted August 24, 2015 #12 Share Posted August 24, 2015 The first thing I thought of when I read this was it was just a PVP trying to sell a room. I honestly think a lot of PVP's haven't been on the majority of the ships and their experience in that regard lacks. I have read multiple times on cruise critic of people who have stayed under the galley on other ships and have serious noise issues. I think most of those reports came from those with cove balconies, but I would think that issue could hold true on any ship.
O2Cool Posted August 24, 2015 #13 Share Posted August 24, 2015 I don't know about Sunshine, but I was in a cove under the galley on Magic. I am a super light sleeper and heard nothing all week. The galley area is very large and it may depend on what area you are under.
johnnyf0614 Posted August 24, 2015 #14 Share Posted August 24, 2015 My PVP specifically told me not too book midship on deck 2 because of the galley and instead suggested deck 1. I wanted connecting ocean view cabins, so I was a bit limited on choices. But I took the PVP's advice and booked deck 1 midship instead.
SammySH Posted August 25, 2015 Author #15 Share Posted August 25, 2015 I appreciate everyone's feedback. I still would like to hear from more people who actually stayed in cabins 2250-2297 on the Sunshine. We are going with a group of 15 with 4 cabins right next to each other so if we move it may be hard to find 4 cabins near each other on a different deck. But it doesn't hurt to ask since we are still over 5 months out.
