BPCruiser Posted September 15, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 15, 2015 Can anyone recommend Paris Hotels that are nice and in convenient location to the Metro and the Seine river Embarkation Port. We are booked on an Avalon French Waterways River Cruise itinerary in 2016 that begins in Paris. Thanks!

I have posted both places hoping to get some good responses from the France Ports as well as the River Cruising Forum. Thanks

Rare Bruce4fun Posted September 16, 2015 #5 Share Posted September 16, 2015 (edited) There are many hotels near the River boat. It totally depends on your budget. Hotels near to the Eiffel Tower are closest. For example Shangri La for 5 star across the Seine, or Novotel Tour Eiffel for 4 star very very close to boat. 5 minutes walking. Note also Avalon changes piers up to day of embarkation, they are however close to each other within 1 mile or less. Rare Hlitner Posted September 16, 2015 #6 Share Posted September 16, 2015 DW and I both love being in Paris where we have visited many times. During our visits we have stayed in various places (Arrondisements) across the city in both hotels and apartments. So my advice to the OP is very simple. Do not confine your thinking to hotels in the area of the boat piers. Simply choose the Arrondisement that best fits your desires and then look for an appropriate hotel in that neighborhood. Even if you are relatively close to the boat pier you will likely need a taxi to get you and your luggage to the boat. And you can easily take a taxi from anywhere in Paris to the boat pier so being close is really not very important. But staying in the right place in the best neighborhood (for you) is an important factor in maximizing the enjoyment of the city. As to the best neighborhood, you will get a lot of opinions. Our favorite places are generally on the Left Bank (5th and 6th...especially in the St Germain des Pres area) but we also enjoy the charms of the Marais area (Right Bank). We tend to avoid the more touristy neighborhoods such as near the Eiffel Tower or in the First. But many others will disagree. Hank
