lephysteria Posted April 16, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Hello Ya'll!!! We got our visa today for our Star Honeymoon !!!!!!!! We got our documents yesterday!!!!!!! Won't everyone join me in a verse of "Oh Happy Day!" Ok, I do have a few questions for ya'll! Regarding those forms included in the pre-cruise documents: 1) Aren't they the same thing as the cruise personalizer? 2) We've filled out the cruise personalizer. Do we still have to send in these documents with our flight information? Anyone know where I can get a deck plan of the ship? Regarding laundry rooms" 1) Where are they? 2) Are they able to be used while docked at the port, or do we have to be at sea? 3) How much do they cost to operate? 4) Are they the small apartment washing machines? 5) Which portable detergents do you recommend? MMMMMMMMMAWH! Sunmail Posted April 16, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Hi, I have some answers for you. We've been on the Star before and are going again in May. The laundry rooms are on each floor. They have around 4 washers, 4 dryers, 4 irons, and full size ironing boards. The machines are full size and take quarters; probably 3-4 per load. I usually just bring the little boxes of Tide but they sell them in vending machines in the laundry rooms so you don't have to bring any. They are open all the time so you can wash whenever you want. The cruise personalizer is the same thing as the forms and you probably don't have to send them in. I didn't and I think it suggests that you don't if you used cruise personalizer. If you have your final documents and the information is incomplete then I would send them in. You can find a deck layout on the Princess website. Look under ships/fleet then deck plans. Where are you guys going? You'll love the Star. Congratulations! lephysteria Posted April 16, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Thanks so much, Sunmail! We're taking the Star - Barcelona to Venice on May 16th. We're actually going to spend a few days before the cruise in Barcelona and after the cruise in Venice. We got married on March 20th and so we're hoping to get picked for the Newlywed game! I'm still debating on whether or not to wear my veil to Europe :-D Thanks alot! Commodore Suzy Posted April 16, 2004 #4 Share Posted April 16, 2004 Congratulations! I was married on the Star in September. You definately can chuck all the forms in your pre-cruise packet if you've done the Personalizer. You can do the Personalizer up to the last minute, but they prefer you be done at least 2 weeks out. You can continue to put your stuff in the Personalizer even after you have your docs. I can't believe you are going on your honeymoon and you don't have a 2004 Europe brochure from your travel agent?? They have the BEST deck plans to look at! Ask your TA, and you can also request one on www.princess.com. If they have them in inventory, they send them pretty quick. And the laundry room question was already answered.... I don't take my own soap anymore, too much of a pain! I do take a few BOUNCE sheets in some ziplocks though! That saves me a few $$$$. Have a wonderful trip! S&D Posted April 17, 2004 #5 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Hi there, yes, all the above is correct. We have sailed twice on the Star, the laundries are conveniently situated, you will have one quite near. Yes, they all take quarters, and the machines are a large size. The laundries are spotlessly clean, and can be used at sea or in port, anytime. We had our vows re newed on the Star, in Mexico 2 yrs ago, after 30 years of marriage...we had a ball, you will love your cruise !!!... We are booked for the Sapphire in 10 months time ..can't wait... We have just looked at your photos...they are truly beautiful !! dosi Posted April 17, 2004 #6 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Jen--although I haven't used them I have heard alot of folks say that the laundry soap that comes in large tablets is very convenient...and much less expensive that buying on board. I think it is really sweet that Naren has volunteered to take on this task during your honeymoon. doris "I travel a lot; I hate having my life disrupted by routine"--Caskie Stinnett Elation 10/20/02 Paradise 9/21/03 Star Princess 10/24/
lephysteria Posted April 17, 2004 Author #7 Share Posted April 17, 2004 Hi Everyone, Thanks for your help. I will request another brochure. I think I might have thrown it out, thinking it was Europe 2003. Anyhow .... Thanks for the tips about the laundry rooms, and the advice about the forms. I think Naren might have sent them in anyhow. S&D, thanks for looking at our pics. I can't choose a favorite! I'm not sure that Naren would actually take on the task of doing laundry. I don't think he does at home. The only reason we're considering this is because we're going to be gone so long (18 days) that I can't see packing 18 days worth of clothing! Rare Coral Posted April 17, 2004 #9 Share Posted April 17, 2004 I used to recommend Tide tablets to bring in the suitcase but to my recent amazement - Tide has discontinued the tablets. There was another brand that used to have them also (Purex?) but I can't find them either anymore.

Princess Di Posted April 18, 2004 #13 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Hi, Jen: Happpy Honeymoon. Venice is so romantic. Be sure to get "Summertime" starring Audrey Hepburn at the library and watch it - such beautiful shots of Venice and a very romantic story. We were on Baja deck, forward, and the laundry was clear at the back, so I just took the elevator one deck down and it was a lot closer than trudging all the way to the aft of the ship. So, use your deck plan to find the closest - not necessarily on your deck. I always take tide in a zip-lock and that way I can use as much or little as I like while I watch pax search for quarters (and sometimes the change machines are out of quarters and sometimes they are out of the products). It is just cheaper and easier. I put the dryer sheets in amongst my clothes and they smell so good. BTW, when Audrey Hepburn falls backwards into the Canal, I read somewhere that: all her orifices had been stuffed with cotton to keep out the murky water. She did get an eye infection which plagued her the rest of her life. Notice how she always looked a little teary? Suzy was partially correct on the PIFs. However, up to the last minute is not correct. The information may get to Valencia (Corporate) but not to the Ship - and getting it to the ship is what counts. When you go ahead and mail it, the Data Entry personnel check to see if everything is correct and then make the corrections. Better too much than not enough. lephysteria Posted April 18, 2004 Author #14 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Hi Princess Di. Thanks for that information. We too, are on the Baja deck forward (B258). I'm thinking of taking my old laundry bag (a duffel bag of sorts) and that will be used instead of my plastic laundry baskets. I have no objections to taking powder Tide with me, and dryer sheets, and downey balls, but I will look for the laundry tablets that they used to make. Perhaps my local store might have them. I'll definitely take out my deck plan again! Thanks so much. Mrs. T p.s. - I can't wait to go to Venice and get lost because I misread the directions! Morzaw Posted April 18, 2004 #15 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Princess Di - you are confusing Audrey with Katharine (Hepburn) in the Movie "Summertime". Great movie and Venice never looked lovelier.
Princess Di Posted April 18, 2004 #16 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Morzaw: Thank you so much. You are correct. I love both of those actresses. It is Katharine Hepburn in Summertime. The 50's costuming is terrific with the small waists. It brings back memories of my teens. Anyone visiting Venice needs to see this video first. cactusrose Posted April 18, 2004 #17 Share Posted April 18, 2004 I don't recall any questions on the cruise personalizer about flight information. Unless you are using Princess Air, I would send/fax that one in. This is what they use to determine what time you need to be off the ship. It's very important to get that information to them. 1972 - Song of Norway, Caribbean 1980 - Hawaii American Curise line, Tahiti 09/01/2002 - Veendam, Alaska 05/29/2003 - Pacific Princess, Alaska 11/26/2003 - Star Princess, Australia/New Zealand 5/28/2004 - Star Princess, Venice to Barcelona 11/06/2004 - Diamond Princess, Mexican Riviera
sue d. miller Posted April 18, 2004 #18 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Also, when you board, you can take your flight info to the persers desk, and you will get the correct color tags to get you off the ship in plenty of time. your Steward will bring the tags to your cabin the last nite. lephysteria Posted April 18, 2004 Author #19 Share Posted April 18, 2004 Hi Ya'll, I actually did send in the paperwork, just in case. I didn't see any air info on the personalizer, and we did book our own air, so I agree that they should know this. Besides We're not in a hurry to get off of the ship. We're doing two days in Venice after the cruise. No hurry to catch the plane! Thanks everyone! Happy Sails!
