My mom uses a scooter that breaks down in 5 parts. She can transfer in and out if a vehicle on her own.

 

Any recommendations for tours in Barbados, St Kitts and Dominica?

We just returned from our 7day southern Caribbean cruise. It was a fabulous cruise!! Unless your mom goes through the ship's excursion, it won't be very easy to get around with her scooter. I have a scooter (breaks down into 4 pieces as well) but did not use it on any of the islands we were on.

 

On St. Kitts, we did a 4x4 safari around the island and that was fun but their "safari" jeep did not seem to accommodate scooter storage.

 

On other islands, we just took a cab to the local beach and hung out there 3-4 hours.

 

On Barbados, there were lots of mini buses, not very many regular taxis. I must say, their cab/taxis/mini buses don't have storage for scooters as they fill up the entire cab cavity with passengers (the more they fill up, the more $$$ they make, that's the objective).

 

Bottom line, you may want to get suggestions from the ship's excursion "expert" to see which excursion is best for passengers with scooters.

We used Barbados Glory Tours in October, 2013. Four hour tour was $174 for 2 people in a van. The driver got the scooter in and out. He helped us a lot. Excellent communication and we chose where we wanted to go. We even scooted along the ocean front on the Barbados boardwalk. glorytours.org
