Back from the Celebration

Recommended Posts

Part two -

We went to the buffet for our dinner, then went to the sail away which was excellent. The Peakles are the show band and very good. First sail away we have been to for ages, but really enjoyed it. I even joined the Conga Line!

So pleased you enjoyed your cruise - we haven't been on Celebration for a while. We were on P&O Oceana a few weeks ago and missed the Thomson entertainment team. It was 5 days before we had a proper sail-away party on deck and that was with a lady with a laptop doing the music, no live band:( Don't get me wrong, we are not the all night partying type but it is good to be on deck when the ship sails. Apart from the few shows the team put on, we never saw them - unlike the Thomson team who work so hard and are on deck dancing or singing after the evening show.

The entertainment was good on the Oceana in March. We are thinking of having another cruise on her :)

  • 2 weeks later...

As promised before we left, just to say that we DID get into Sibenik and we docked.

We sailed from Venice and the Captain announced that we might need to tender into Sibenik depending on weather on the day and a decision would be made later, so it was all still a bit iffy the evening before.

That morning we did get in and did manage to dock, but to be fair the channel (shown in the above photo) is indeed extremely narrow, in fact one of the narrowest we have ever sailed and the decks were crowded to watch the sailaway.

No idea about the sail in because it was actually torrential rain that day, so much so that a deck BBQ was cancelled and because so many pax were still onboard, the MDR was also opened for lunch.

Although the tours left in horrendous weather, (of course!) most pax not on tour stayed onboard until early afternoon when it finally stopped. We went off around 1-15. Despite losing so much time due to rain, we enjoyed our walkabout so hopefully next time it is on the itinerary others can get there too.

Thank-you so much edinburgher :) Sound like they may have a lot of bad weather there! A sort of micro climate ;)

Hopefully, we may get there some some day, along with Stornoway, which we missed last year on the Spirit :(

Weather was extremely mixed and there were dry but cool days, dry and dull days and 2 days of sunshine, but Dubrovnic was the worst both times.

Arrival day there was a massive thunderstorm in Dubrovnic and we heard that Bristol and Newcastle flights were diverted to Brindisi to sit it out and refuel before continuing. Leaving day it was again torrential rain and wind early on but by the time we reached the airport it was clearing.

We expected mixed weather but the jetstream is/was giving the Adriatic and parts of the Med and Aegean worse than normal weather.

Still, it didn't impact us too much as two of the worst were travel days and at least it was a dry afternoon in Sibenik.

November. Oceans Eleven.

Hi funtimefrankie, welcome to Cruise Critic :) (love the name :) )

Celebration was our first cruise and got us hooked on cruising. She is a lovely ship, not glitzy like the big American ships, but so friendly and welcoming.

I hope you enjoy your first cruise, I'm sure you will be booking another as soon as you get back!

Any hints or tips, just ask, someone on here will know. I will try to find the thread on things you wish you had known on your first cruise. Some good tips and some funny stuff too.
