AZJerry Posted September 26, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 26, 2015 Just off the Ruby where I had a problem with the Android Princess Messenger app. I'd connect to the Ruby's wifi network which wanted me to login to my internet account. I skipped that and created and was able to login to a Messenger account. After several minutes the wifi connection timed out and disconnected, effectively killing the Messenger app. I'd have to go through the whole process again. Was I doing something wrong? Problem with their setup? Or????
Pam in CA Posted September 26, 2015 #2 Share Posted September 26, 2015 If you're in your cabin, try opening the cabin door. It's metallic and often blocks WiFi signals. Propping the door open slightly really helps. Doesn't matter whether you're using Android or iPhone.
Rare FlyerTalker Posted September 26, 2015 #3 Share Posted September 26, 2015 Remember that the "app" is basically a front-end to the ship's onboard website, which you can reach directly as a bookmark/favorite in your browser. No need for the "app". If you are simply losing wifi connectivity, that's a wifi router issue. The cabin areas may have poor coverage and the steel walls and door of your cabin act as a form of Faraday cage to limit signals. Try the hallways or public areas for better wifi reception. kdooley Posted September 27, 2015 #4 Share Posted September 27, 2015 I used the new App (iPhone) on the EP last month and found that if my phone went off (to sleep) or I left the ship, when I turned it back on, my phone would auto connect to the princess wifi. Every time, the App wanted me to login again, so I started going straight to the browser site that the App opened (as stated above) and I stayed logged in there for the whole cruise. There is a link in the App under the login boxes that took me to the site. I didn't have an Internet package.
