Beach snorkeling Costa Maya

We are experienced divers and snorkelers looking for opinions on good beach entry spots to snorkel Costa Maya. We have our own gear. Pictures we have seen looks like a good possibility right by the pier. Is this a high boat traffic area? (just off the little beach). How about the Majahual beach area? or is the best option to take a boat to a nearby reef? We don't like being in the water with lots of people. We enjoy getting away from people that stir up the bottom and scare away the fish. Would like to see more than fish really, some nice corals would be great too.
