If I use a free cruise certificate and opt to upgrade to a balcony would I then qualify for one of the promos like UBP?

Not sure if you understood my question or if I don't understand your response. I have a free cruise certificate from harrahs for a free inside cabin. Just need to pay taxes and port charges. I can then opt to pay an extra amount to upgrade to a balcony. Currently if purchasing a balcony without the free cruise certificate would come with the option of the UBP. Would I be eligible to receive that if I book with the free cruise certificate? Because if not then buying the balcony outright without using the certificate winds up being cheaper. I can surely just ask when I call. But just thought I would hear some experiences here first. Thanks!

You only get a promo that goes with your inside cabin. You can upgrade for a fee but you don't get the promo for balcony and above. Sorry if I was vague. It's still a great savings. Depending on ship etc. .....that certificate saves at least 45-60% off.

I actually don't think it will save me any money if I have to purchase the UBP vs outright purchasing the balcony that would come with the UBP. Example let's say $300 pp taxes and port charges and $300 pp balcony upgrade. That totals. $1200 then add the UBP price of $892. Total is now. $2092. A balcony is currently $1880 (after 20% diamond discount). This is all just my rough calculations so I might get a different answer once I call. I guess I was just hoping someone would have said that the UBP would be included if upgrading to a balcony. Oh well. Thanks for your response!

I think the responses above are providing you the incorrect information, as I booked an inside med cruise 3 weeks ago with a casino certificate paid the taxes and non commissioned fare and was given the UBP package and a $100 comp to be used on board. I just had to pay for the gratuities for the UBP package like everyone else and the upgrade to balcony which was a few hundred.

Sorry. I just looked at the promos. My sailings were for 2016. If you are gonna sail this year 2015 then an inside does have a UBP promo. Just call CAS or the number on that certificate and they will give you the best option.

No, you're eligible for the perks that match your cabin offer, not for the level you pay to upgrade to. We just did this for our Getaway cruise. I paid for a balcony upgrade and only received the $25 OBC for insides, the cabin offered for free.

 

However we were able to take advantage of 3-8 free so my teen nephew was free in the cabin. Back then the free extra passengers was in addition too a choice perk.

 

Our cruise was fabulous and I'm glad we upgraded.

The information regarding getting the promo for the cabin you are offered is correct. Depending on your cruise insides received UBP as a promo choice.
