TroubleT Posted September 29, 2015 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2015 Has anybody done this tour (on your own) and is it worth it? Also, how far is the farm from the port? Thanks a lot for any input! :)
cb at sea Posted October 1, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 1, 2015 If you're interested in farming turtles, then it's worth it. They raise them for meat...it's a FARM. They also have a beach area, which many will spend time at.... The local bus runs to the turtle farm...$2.50 pp.
bookbabe Posted October 2, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 2, 2015 Contrary to what some people stress repeatedly, although the Turtle Farm is a farm, you'd never know it from just going there. Their overt message is conservation, and it will remind you of a small Sea World or similar park, with touch tanks, a snorkel lagoon, swimming area with water slide, etc. It is not within walking distance of the port, but is easily accessible via a short taxi ride. I believe that transportation can also be pre-arranged with the Turtle Farm if you buy tickets from them in advance.
