Sparetiming Posted October 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 4, 2015 If you take the $3.00 shuttle to Mahahual, can you just enter one of the beach resorts or is there a fee? Can you use their facilities? Do they charge for lounge chairs and such? Where is the best snorkeling from the beach?
Rare crewsweeper Posted October 5, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 5, 2015 You can enter the beach anywhere. Most clubs, unless they are an A.I. or have an A.I. area, don't charge admission. they do EXPECT you to order drinks and food. Lots of info on clubs along the beach. Some of the better ones are Blue Kay, Tropicante, YaYas, Pez Quadro. IMO, snorkeling isn't good along the malecon. Too much water traffic. Too much sea grass. Although there are spots up closer to the lighthouse, like Blue Kay where you can find okay snorkeling. Better snorkeling, iron shore, is up north of Costa Maya at Uvero Beach, this is where the ships' snorkeling excursions go, or Rio Lindo. More than a $3 taxi ride. Not sure if you can get in as a walk in. Maya Beach Garden Inn is a resort in the area, about 20-25 minutes from the pier They may accommodate day passengers if they have availability but you need to contact them in advance and make reservations if they do. mayabeachgarden.com
Stokeset Posted November 19, 2015 #5 Share Posted November 19, 2015 I am looking into this site for Feb '16. Was in this small village many years ago before it became a cruise port. Anxious to see how much it's changed. http://www.tripadvisor.com/Attraction_Review-g499450-d3844947-Reviews-Maya_Chan_Beach-Mahahual_Costa_Maya_Yucatan_Peninsula.html
