Formal Night Balls

Having just sailed on Celebrity X I am a bit confused about QVs schedule

It lists the formal nights as Balls stipulating a colour, could someone kindly expand for me please?

I think you're referring to the Black and White ball.

 

Most people participate by wearing ensembles dominated by the colors black and/or white. Pretty easy for the men in their tuxedos; women have more options but black and white predominates for the evening.

 

The other balls only factor in during the Queens Room activities. For example on the night of the masquerade ball few people wear masks at dinner or the shows before the ball itself begins.

The Cunard "Balls" are just a theme for the night with a suggestion for dress. However, other than the "Black and White", most people ignore the suggested colors.
