ship internet useage

Has anyone used the internet service on the ship? I heard they are slow, but what is the cost? I would only want to check my email a couple of times to check for any emergencies back home, don't want to spend lots of time on it. Or is it easier to find a place in port? Our kids are older so don't feel we need to call home to see how they are on a 5 day trip, but want to be in touch. Thanks

On my 7 day, it was 75 cents a minute or packages of 100 minutes for $55 or 250 minutes for $100.00

It was also 75 cents a minute and two packages as well on mine. when we were on our cruise I just used the 75 cents a minute and checked my email. I think the least I ever paid was .75 cents and the most was 12.00.

 

It was slow at times, but for the most part it was pretty quick. They also charge a one time fee of 3.95 (I think that was the fee) the first time you log on. I would suggest that if you are going with others in your cabin that you all use the same login and password so that you all don't get charged as it is per person.

We bought 100 minutes ($55) and used our own laptop in the room - did not have problem with speed and only was down once in 12 days..for a few minutes no major outage.

To answer the other part of the question, there are internet cafes in most ports with much cheaper prices, but they may not be as convenient as being on the ship. They will almost certainly be faster connections.

We were in the final stages of signing a contract to sell our house when we sailed on the Pride in July. We paid for 100 minutes ($55) because we needed to be in touch with our attorney/r.e.agent. The computers were sooooooooo slow it was painful. But, we got our money's worth!
