Venice Mono Rail

Recommended Posts

We have used it many times.......your information is not correct! It just goes one stop to piazzale Roma and from there you can pick up vaporettos or walk to wherever you want! It just costs one euro and you need to turn right out of the port entrance and you will see a concrete structure/ tower with the rail above....there are ticket machines as you enter so buy your ticket and go up the escalator to the platform....there is a digital display showing which platform you need. (piazzale.Roma). When you exit the station if you want to walk then head for the far top right hand side of the square......if you want vaporettos then turn sharp right and walk along the street to the water!

You can get maps of the vaporettos routes off the internet (like Underground maps).

If you decide to walk there will be directions on the corners of buildings to San Marco or Rialto which helps..on your return follow the piazzale Roma signs.....simples! You will get lost...most people do but that's half the fun of Venice....we love it!

Thanks for info jenny wren. We did actually walk into Piazzale Roma as in the past we have always gone in on the water taxi but noticed this and asked at destination services who gave us the info about the stops:mad:so perhaps it was good that we could not find a ticket booth and I will do better research before I go next year:rolleyes:

You are right it is a lovely city;)

We used the Mono rail for the first time this year and walked to St Marks it cost1 euro when we were there in June You get your ticket at the machine as you go in and go up the escalator to the platform where there are digital displays showing which platform you need. We really enjoyed walking in the different areas and they were not so busy we got lost but got back on track easily as there directions all the way to San Marco or Rialto on the buildings.
