Spa passes??

We have 2 rooms, one is a large balcony on deck 9, getaway over New Years. Dh and I in the large balcony, our 2 18year olds in the other.

We are likely to be perfectly happy in our room on the balcony for quiet. We will also be in the casino and cigar bar and waterfront and will avoid sun/lido/pool like the plague-we are not sun worshippers.

I go back and forth on the spa for dh and I. We are just not sure if it's worth the extra $360 or not. This is our first cruise, so it's a little overwhelming without any experience to decide.

I am not likely to use the saunas etc, just the loungers. Dh possibly will use the other areas of the spa. Our other consideration is to use that $ to just get a massage or two. Money is not an issue...just worried it might be a waste.

Id like to hear from people who got the passes for one cruise but didn't for later cruises:) any other thoughts are appreciated as well.

Thanks!

We always enjoy the spa for the hydrotherapy pools and the heated loungers. We took a western Caribbean cruise some years ago in November and those heated loungers came in very handy, but that was also at a time when we didn't have kids and could stay as long as we wanted.

If money isn't the issue and this is your first cruise, I would go ahead and buy the passes. The worst thing that happens is that you don't get your money's worth and you never buy spa passes again since you know that isn't for you.

The spa pass is expensive, but you can go every day, two or three times a day if you want, so that makes it better value in my opinion than a one-hour massage (which will cost you about the same). And the $20 discount for advance booking makes it cheaper and easier to get than it was before.

If you don't like the sun, but do enjoy being in the pool or hot tub, the spa is really ideal. Ditto if it's raining or too cold for the outside pool deck.

I don't know if you use the gym, but it's great to have use of the spa lockers and showers before and after. (I'm assuming you are on BA or GA, which unlike most of the older ships do not have these facilities available for free for gym users.)
