Thanks so much Lisa! The picture helps!

So, if I bring just a regular plug in night light from home, it will not work?

Sorry I just saw your note to me. A standard plug in night light works in the cabin by the vanity mirror but I've never been able to plug anything into the bathroom fixture. It's an odd looking thing. I even bought an adapter in the travel section in Wally world and never could get it to work and I've been on lots of cruises. I just figure anything in the bathroom needs batteries or go to the vanity. This includes electric shavers, blow dryers, curling irons and night lights. That is why the magnetic light is perfect. It has a couple different brightness settings too so it can be subtle light for the bathroom at night, flashlight mode or all on.

That's what I was afraid of! What is it about the balcony that cruisers get addicted to?

Well, for one, the room feels bigger (I think they are but don't know sq. footage) because they not only have the bed, but also most have a full couch. Also, if it isn't great weather, you can be in your room, but still not missing feeling like you are cruising because of all the light coming in. And if it is great weather, you have privacy to sunbathe (if you are facing the right direction).

We cruise to relax and are not much for all the activity of the lido deck. So we literally spend hours a day on a balcony. We will grab a drink from the lido and kick back. We take a portable speaker and play music quietly. Sit and talk Catch up. No chaos. And at night, all is quiet and you hear the sound of the water against the boat and get beautiful views of the stars and the moon (again - light OFF people!!!) and have a glass of wine before bed...or...:D

What kind of balcony is that? Amazing!

It is the " bowling alley " balcony on spirit class ships. It is room 6232 and 6234, 7258 and 7260, and 8232 and 8234 on the Pride, Miracle, Spirit, and Legend. Only 6232 can hold 4, the rest are 2 person rooms. Additionally, 6234. 7260, and 8234 are handicap staterooms. These are not suite balconies and are priced as a regular extended room but happen to be triple length due to their location. Thus you get 3 times the size of a regular extended balcony for the same cost. It is a great deal but you have to book very early, as they go fast.

If you use the light at night, don't forget to turn it off.

Don't open cabin door and balcony at the same time. Papers will go flying and the door will want to slam hard.

Love this comment. Frustrating when people leave the balcony light on. I love to sit outside in the dark and look at the stars.

We went on two cruises years ago and stayed in an inside room. Not bad, still had a great cruise. Then we tried a balcony room because our friends were going to book one too. After that -- HOOKED! Can't live without a balcony. Waking up at 2 or 3 in the morning and stepping out on the balcony is a few minutes of magic before I head to sleep again. Coming in after a long day in the sun, great meal and entertainment, drinks and casino -- and then being able to decompress with a drink on the balcony. it doesn't get much better than that. We spend most of our time on the balcony now. Unfortunately, we are now hooked on the aft and the aft wrap balconies. But who cares, money goes away -- memories don't. You will love the upgrade! It really is like a new type of cruise.

My sentiments exactly, love just sitting and reflecting, reading, enjoying s glass of wine, and realizing memories are being made at this wonderful moment!

Watch the sunrise with a fresh carafe of coffee from room service on the balcony, peace at its best!!!

Watch the sun set with a glass of wine, toast to the end of a perfect day and a night just beginning!!!!

Love, love, love a balcony, for all the right reasons and maybe some naughty ones too....

You will be hooked....

THIS! Nothing better than drinking coffee on the balcony in the morning!

If you are on the Dream, I assume it is leaving from New Orleans...? The 8 hour trip down the Mississippi is AMAZING. That is my absolute favorite port to leave from. There have been two times that I have been out on my balcony in the middle of the night and passed another Carnival ship (Sunshine) by what felt like was just feet away...all lit up...

That is one of the best ports to leave or return from with a balcony cabin..in my opinion...(Feb will be my 6th time out of NO, out of 13 cruises) We did it in a Ocean View the first time and then a balcony, and have never gone back to anything but a balcony.

Have an amazing time! I have 120ish days left and I will be in your shoes!!!

Yes, leaving from New Orleans. Since I've always had interior cabin, I never really noticed that trip down the Mississippi.

I'm curious, I assume this is the Mississippi River? So it takes 8 hours to get to the Gulf?

Enjoy your balcony! My DH would rather cruise less and have a balcony every time. Nothing like drinking room service coffee in your pj's on the balcony.

Sea days sitting out on your balcony reading a good book and feeling like it is just you and your cabin mate.

You are going to love it!!!

Making a balcony count- first two cruises, I had a balcony cabin, but except for one day on the first cruise really didn't spend much time on the balcony-actually got addicted to cruising, and increased the amount of cruises by doing porthole cabins, and on the Legend class, the "French door" cabins-(I had one of the bowling lane balconies the first), but now that I am old and hate noise and the "party" I will be doing balconies, maybe less, but enjoying the quiet of the sea.

Sorry I got interrupted by work and then had to drive home-a balcony is great, if you use it! Watching the stars at night, enjoying coffee in the morning, watching the world float by. Enjoy!

Good Morning Paul & Lizabeth! Not sure why, but I'm kinda anxious about this cruise - is there such thing as "balcony cold feet"?? LOL

About the bathroom plug.....

I've been on 3 carnival ships and there were always 2 outlets in the bathroom. I've been told that the odd shaped outlet is specifically for shavers/razors.(European razors?). The other plug is usually up high, near or maybe part of the light fixture over the mirror. It's easy to miss. It's possible that many ships don't have them. Maybe I've just been lucky.
