Does this bother you, kids and crusing pranks..

Last cruise I was on was over Christmas holiday and it seemed like the ship was full of kiddies, not normally a problem, but on this one a lot of the "Kids from Hell" were on board and apparently unsupervised. Every night we put out our room service breakfast card and every morning except one no room service because the card was not on the door according to room service, it simply disappeared. On the third day we got room service, except it was everything on the menu selection card "Doubled" and "Tripled", we had four room service guys show up at 6:06 AM about two hours before it should have arrived. We decorated our door and all of it was taken, people knocked on our door almost every night, but when I got dressed, there would be no one there, just a giggle from way down the hall way. The room on one side was alll teenage girls and they stayed up almost all night laughing and screaming and having a great time. Now don't think I don't like kids and I want everyone to enjoy their cruise but a little courtesy goes along way. No more Holiday cruises for us. Maybe others have experienced a kid problem too! What can we do? I almost forgot to mention the vaseline in the ladies room toilet seat my DW experienced and the black shoe polish on my door handle on the underside where it didn't show...What a cruise.

Only cause room service is free. Can you imagine how you would feel if you were in some hotel that charges $20 per.

Yeah that would be bad, but I did have to tip four people in stead of just one. We had an inside cabin and I'm sure our steward had a giggle when he seen all these dishes and only two people in the cabin. Must have thought no wonder American's are over weight....

We had an unruley group of teen agers that stayed up to the wee hours running up and down the hall. I hope they tried to sleep late each morning because as we went past their door to breackfast I would knock on the door and keep walking. Same theing on the way back. Once I even called their room from the house phone at the pursers desk. Didn't seem to slow them down any but it made me feel better.LOL

I Fathered FOUR boys, so you'll forgive me if I smile nostalgically. :D

Although its rare, sometimes these things happen. You took it well IMHO with a good sense of humor over it. Although I usually cruise when school is in session in most parts of the country (for pricing only, I love kids), I've never experienced, other than a mild temper tantrum, any kids misbehaving badly. Although I may have a skewed view of what "misbehaving" is (see 1st paragraph). :D

If something like this ever happened to me and the parents were known or available, since I'm such a judgmental basturd, I would probably have taken the parents to task right there on the spot. I could almost guarantee, based on my ability to make issues like this and their consequences "crystal clear", that it would never happen again on that cruise.

Yeah it irked us a little, but I wasn't gonna let it ruin our Holiday/Cruise spirit. We never seen the parents and aren't even sure if it was the girls next door. There were hundreds of kids on board, and most appeared to be unsupervised, I guess Mom and Dad figured the kids were confined to a ship so the adults didn't have to worry about them. Not all the kids were bad I'm sure, just a few bad apples and like a previous post said they probably were not kept busy enough. We do look back on some of the things and grin, cause as kids we did some of these things too. just a note to parents, other people may not be as tolerent as we were and I remember that some were upset down the hall about the door knockin tricks.

Believe it or not we still enjoyed the cruise and couldn't find the parents. Any cruise is better than no cruise!!!

I'm not surprised you couldn't find the parents.

I haven't sailed without atleast one of my children since before I had children. I just hope mine have not been unruly like this. On my last cruise I noticed a group of teenagers hanging around together. By no means were they being obnoxious. However when they left the area where they were seated, some of them climbed over the chairs and sofa instead of walking around. At the time my daughter was with me. She noticed it and commented that I'd kill her if she did that.

For room service I just call the night before and put in my order. I just anticipate someone taking that card off the door..lol....

Yeah, its all in how you're raised, notice you're from Fort Worth, so are we, over near Meacham airport just North of 820.

Dang Steve - sounds like you had the right attitude:D This is probably all I should say on this subject ;)

He probably just posted this in order to compile a todo list for a group cruise. :p

So far, we've been lucky - just the usual push all the buttons in the elavator trick.

We did the Glory Christmas cruise last year and we noticed herds of unsupervised teens running amok day and night. I have worked with adolescents who have psychiatric and behavioral problems so I tend to be a bit tougher with my expectations of public behavior than does hubby, but even he was irked by the lack of obvious supervision. We didnt hear about or experience any pranks, the breakfast thing would have PO d me a bit.

it seemed most of the kids hung out in the game room and the Disco, but we too noticed groups going here and there, obviously looking for something to do, I'm sure Secuirty was kept busy.

I have a five year old and a seven year old son and am pretty tolerant of children, but some of those pranks go "over the line" in my opinion. I also work with youth at my church and take them on trips during the summer and have dealt with their pranks in hotels in the past.

My guideline has always been as long as it does not damage property or make others trip miserable, then pranks are acceptable. If it disturbs others and destroy property, then it is completely unnacceptable!

Happens on RCCL, too...

In July I had the Royal Suite on the Rhapsody. We had a doorbell. Too tempting...

Sis-o-Stir and I were standing inside the door, ready to walk out. The doorbell rang. I jerked the door open and saw some legs hoofing it around the corner...I gave chase.

Two young (probably 13-14 yr. old) girls were standing quivering in the hallway...wondering if they were "in trouble".

Bet they were surprised at how fast an old fat lady can run...and they somehow had the idea that I was the Captain's wife (I'm not).

Sis-o-Stir was collapsed beside the door laughing her heiney off.

We headed off to the casino where I won $1350.
