paul58 Posted October 29, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 29, 2015 It would be an additional pier. At the present time only about two of the larger ships can tie up at the same time. The present pier is about 915 feet long.

paul58 Posted October 29, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2015 It will be a few years away before they even start the construction in my opinion. They have been talking about it for several years.

They have been talking about it for several years. Thanks Paul! Rather glad it'll be at some point later. We sort of like the cruise terminal area there for before or after an excursion. :) LuLu
paul58 Posted October 29, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 29, 2015 The proposed plans that I saw several years ago showed the additional pier to the right of the existing pier as you face the sea and angled at 45 degrees to the right.
Mango Mike Posted October 29, 2015 Author #7 Share Posted October 29, 2015 According to the article, construction would begin this coming January and be completed by the end of 2017 (but as we all know, what the officials say and do are always 2 different things ) I have a sweet/sour view on this one. While I think an additional pier would mean more cruise passengers on any given day which in return results in more revenue for the island and its people, I really enjoy the very limited number of cruise passengers that can be ashore with the current setup. Another pier = possibly twice as many ships = twice as many tourists = crowded.
