moki'smommy Posted October 31, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Is it available or should I bring my own?
Treven Posted October 31, 2015 #2 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Bring your own supply. While I think Splenda is getting more available, it seems I have to keep asking for it. When I pack I merely toss a box of 100 packets in my bag to be safe. Then I grab several whenever I go to meals.

RASHOPPER2 Posted October 31, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 31, 2015 I have always found it to be available on Princess cruises.
AZbeachboy Posted October 31, 2015 #5 Share Posted October 31, 2015 It has always been available in my experience. My last cruise they had to go and get it from the buffet, they had not thought to put it in the mdr. They had to do the same thing with the sugar free jelly. ChiefBoats Posted October 31, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) We have 15 Princess cruises under our belt (Only cruise Princess) and there has always been Splenda on board. The only time is when people start hording it they run out. All you have to do if there no Splenda at your MDR table is ask for it. Not a big problem. Also in the Horizon Court it is at the coffee/tea bar. ____________________________________ Island Princess 2008 Alaska, Island Princess 2009 (B2B) Alaska, Royal Princess (Old) 2010 Alaska, Golden Princess 2011 Alaska, Coral Princess 2012 Panama Canal, Star Princess 2012 Alaska, Island Princess 2013 Alaska, Crown Princess 2013 Western Caribbean, Caribbean Princess 2013 Western Caribbean, Royal Princess 2014 Eastern Caribbean, Royal Princess 2014 New England, Emerald Princess 2014 Western Caribbean, Emerald Princess 2015 Western Caribbean, Ruby Princess 2015 Alaska Edited October 31, 2015 by ChiefBoats
IECalCruiser Posted October 31, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Splenda (or generic sucralose) packets have been available on all recent Princess cruises.
AKman2495 Posted October 31, 2015 #8 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Yeah, I have never had a problem finding it on Princess.
moki'smommy Posted October 31, 2015 Author #9 Share Posted October 31, 2015 Thanks, all. Sounds like I'll be all set...but I'll probably bring a small box just to be on the safe side. Life was pretty miserable when DCL didn't have any a couple years ago. Since I can't drink carbonated beverages, that left me with water as the only option! As to the generics--some are fine, others are horrible (chemical aftertaste). I actually use a cheaper store brand at home, but I've experienced some that were just nasty. MTJSR Posted October 31, 2015 #10 Share Posted October 31, 2015 (edited) Same here, they have always had it. Side personal note. I did some reading to compare ingredients of Sweet and Low with Splenda. Sweet and Low was blasted years ago for possibly causing cancer in lab rats, but that later was deemed unlikely in humans as the intake quantity needed to be at risk was just too high. I am finding that I only need half as much Sweet and Low compared to Splenda. I also feel like I may stay healthier by drinking less mystery powder:D. Just for fun thou, try it and see if that is true for you. After all, they share the same main ingredient "Dextrose" . Dextrose is just a "filler" used in Sweet'N Low, Equal and Splenda to have approximately the same volume in the packet as sugar.

It seemed to me that it gave whatever I mixed it in such a bad "off" taste.

I would have agreed with you until I used half the qty I might normally use and thou it still has its own unique taste, for me I could tolerate it in a pinch.
