First time NCL cruise - dining reservation questions

I just booked my wife and i's first Norwegian cruise on the Dawn out of Nola on Jan 31st of 2016. We have cruised carnival but never Norwegian and don't really understand the freestyle concept!!

We have the specialty dining package that includes 4 dinners at the specialty restaurant. What is the process for making reservations? Or do you even make reservations? I can't seem to find the details. I appreciate any help you can provide on this as well as any other tips for Norwegian first timers!!

Thanks!!

You can make reservations in advance on the NCL website 90 days before your cruise (100 days if you are in a suite), or you can make them once on the ship. You may also just walk in but you may have to wait or run the risk of not getting in.

You can make your reservations on line, if you happen to know which restaurant you want to eat at and at what time. You can make them 90 days in advance of a cruise in a non-suite cabin and 100 days prior in a suite. You can also make them onboard the ship, as there is a restaurant reservations desk at Guest Services desk.

I would suggest, if you want to go to the Teppanyaki restaurant that you make the reservations either on line or when you immediately get onboard the ship, because seating is limited. Also, if like me, you like to eat at a particular time, prime dinner time between 6 - 7, make your reservations as soon as you can, otherwise you could get stuck having dinner really early or really late.

Ha. Ok. I booked tonight and it says we are 91 days out. So that is why we don't have the option I suppose!!

Another question. With our 4 credits can we book a location two different times? Like cagneys twice? Thanks for the help!!!

Or all four times if you wish. Pick and choose as you want.

Yes, it should show up at 90 days out.

Yes, I've always gone to Cagney's and the Teppanyaki restaurant a number of times during my cruises.

BTW, don't be surprised if you can't reserve Teppanyaki online. It's not available for our cruise (and hasn't been since we hit the 90 day mark) and lots of folks are seeing the same thing. You may be able to call to book it or just do it as soon as you get on the ship.

Ron, you are so correct. I booked my reservations 60 days ago and they said I had to book the Teppanyaki restaurant on the ship. At my age, I'm starting to forget things that happened even a few days ago.:)

To the OP, if you want to go to the Teppanyaki restaurant you should book it as soon as you get onboard the ship.

Ok. So do you go to the restaurant to make the reservation? Or do you go to a customer services desk? Thanks again for all the help

The restaurant reservations desk is right at the Guest Services desk, but also check in the terminal during embarkation, I know that for my last cruise there was one there. If I remember, got a bad memory, I'm cruising out of New Orleans the first week of December, I'll let you know if there was one in the terminal.
