spf Posted November 4, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Hoping someone will have stayed in one of these cabins and will be able to advise on level of obscurity etc and maybe which aren't too bad many thanks
sammybonny Posted November 4, 2015 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Haven't been on Britainnia yet but we have been on Royal Princess which is the same design. We stayed in 301 which was obstructed by the first lifeboat but only looking down, looking out and forward was fine and would definitely choose this cabin again. Some of the cabins towards the back of the ship are obstructed by tender boats which are taller than the life boats. If you go to the Princess forum there are always threads about this and a website that has a lot of photos of obstructed cabins and photos of the outside of the ship showing the numbers of the cabins, so you can see which ones have the worst obstruction. If you ask the question someone will post the name of the website (sorry I can't remember it). By the way G deck on Britainnia is called E deck on Princess.
tartanexile81 Posted November 4, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 4, 2015 We got to know a lovely Dutch Canadian guy on a Princess cruise and he has created a website with photos of obstructed cabins in the Princess fleet. He has Ruby and Emerald, the same as sister ships Azura and Ventura and also Royal and Regal like Britannia. If you check out his website you may find some photos to help, although he only has a limited number of Royal and Regal so far https://sites.google.com/site/royalregalprincess/ Maybe it would help? This is the site I was thinking of----really useful. It will give you a good idea of what the obstructions look like.

sammybonny Posted November 4, 2015 #7 Share Posted November 4, 2015 Thanks for info very prompt am also considering balcony in quiet location if anyone has any tips thankyou. E301 (G301 on Britannia) was very quiet, we thought it might be noisy because it is quite close to the stairs and lifts.Good location to access bars restaurants etc just a couple of flights down. Also hasnt got the problem of lack of staircase as in the centre of the ship so no waiting a long time for lifts. Gaffer27 Posted November 8, 2015 #8 Share Posted November 8, 2015 Just back from Britannia , stayed in cabin G409 ,a "balcony obstructed cabin" , no obstruction at all looking straight out ! Looked down on the curved part of the roof of the Java coffee shop and the promenade deck. Great cabin , midships , no noise , sofa, 2 bedside cabinets . tartanexile81 Posted November 8, 2015 #9 Share Posted November 8, 2015 We had an obstructed balcony on a Celebrity ship too and the only "obstruction" was the lifeboat jutting out a bit on the deck below so we couldn't look straight down. Will make a note of this cabin number!
spf Posted November 9, 2015 Author #10 Share Posted November 9, 2015 Really interested in G409 was there any issues with cigarette smoke from deck below. Don't want to offend smokers but wanted to know out of curiosity . Thankyou.
