Hi,

can someone please tell me if this is normal practice? We've been given 11016 on the Epic and it seems to have a cave like balcony. I wanted a glass one!

Is it treated like a kind of upgrade, so tough luck to me? We are sailing on the 8th Nov so is it too late to do anything about it?

Yes, you got an upgrade! That cabin is a large balcony cabin and from what I hear they are really large. Enough to fit two loungers and additional regular chairs.

Did you book a GTD cabin? If so, you got an upgrade.

If you have a PCC or TA, call immediately -- or call the general NCL reservations number. We recently got "upgraded" from guaranteed room to a less desirable one. We selected the room we had for a reason and were not happy with the "upgrade." You should be able to get any other available room in the new category (if you want it) or in the old category. Don't accept this if you don't like NCL's choice, especially since you were not consulted. Minimally, you should get OBC. (The same thing happened to us and our PCC was able to get a stateroom that really was an upgrade.)

The OP booked a GTY room, meaning that they got a cheaper fare and booked 'any' cabin in a specific category. They have no recourse if they were 'upgraded' by NCL as they didn't pay for a specific cabin. You on the other hand booked and paid for a specific cabin, and you shouldn't have been changed unless you agreed to NCL's moving you.

Sauer-kraut was correct and tulch must have a better telephone manner than me. I have been 'upgraded' and I can upgrade for a fee to the same sort of cabin we originally booked but on a higher floor for a fee.... Nahhh
