Breakaway Atrium

If you are looking at the "spiral" staircase as picture in the mid-ship area, where the infamous casino is located (deck 7) - there is no elevator next to those stairs. The forward atrium lobby have both wide stairs and banks of elevators - it's right next to/just in front of O'Sheehans (deck 7) or ship's "hotel" lobby/reception or guest services (deck 6). Or, AFT staircases with more elevators - those will take you up & down from the Garden Cafe on deck 15.

At peak time, especially during embarkation & disembarkation - those elevators can get jammed pack & hard to get in (yes, they are small, relatively speaking, IMO)

Have a look & reference the ship's deck plan & you should see the layout I'm describing. Read your other questions on another thread - this should not be one of the indirect concerns you've raised.

Mking8288 I didn't book a midship room because I was told there were not elevators close by son I booked aft thinking it would be better for my mom. Then I started to wonder if there were elevators where the shops and all were. And yes I have a few concerns that I am hoping can be relieved

Unless you booked way back AFT, past the elevators (there are only 2 banks of elevators, FWD & AFT) it is very convenient to access not just the buffet, but also the 3 MDR and the shops (deck 8 AFT) - there is really no need to "struggle" with the stairs.

The hallways are narrower for some of the passenger passage, especially if the room stewards are "working" with their service carts out in the corridor - making it difficult for wheelchairs & motorized scouters, those using walkers should manage with a semi-tight squeeze.

We had an AFT stateroom on deck 13, just forward of the AFT elevator and it was fine last year. This Spring, we had a FWD balcony on deck 10, almost all the way in the front, starboard side and that was lots of walking exercises, multiple times daily (145 steps, DW counted - to the FWD elevators & steps) It's one of the reasons some don't like the mega ships, for various & individual reasons. With all these information, you can & should be able to plan ahead to avoid most surprises. (I'm sure our fellow experienced CC will share their views & feedback in the morning ... as the newest *Away class ship - the Escape is now approaching Miami :) )

It's a huge ship and no matter what, there will definitely be walking involved (every deck does have elevator access). The elevators are located mid aft and mid forward. The atrium is in the middle of the ship so you can get to it from either of the elevator banks. I was on BA in August with my sister, who uses a mobility scooter. We had an accessible cabin which was located fairly close to the forward elevators.

Suggest taking a look at the deck plans for exact locations of your cabin in relation to the elevators and other venues you might be going to. You might want to invest in a small, collapsible wheelchair if its too much for you mother.
