The Greater Fool Posted September 30, 2005 #1 Share Posted September 30, 2005 I know how sensitive folks are to "Can I wear... on formal night?" but I've searched and not found a post addressing this: Do ANY men wear Top Hats? TGF
wannasail4ever Posted September 30, 2005 #2 Share Posted September 30, 2005 TGF - we've been on 17 cruises on HAL, Celebrity, Princess, NCL(1), Carnival(1) and I've never seen one. If someone were to wear one, I would suspect that it might happen on HAL. Hope this helps. Macy
bdjam Posted September 30, 2005 #3 Share Posted September 30, 2005 I’ve never seen a top hat – but it certainly would be dapper…of course the requisite tails should be included. If someone were to wear one, I would suspect that it might happen on HAL.
mii Posted September 30, 2005 #4 Share Posted September 30, 2005 I also have never seen a top hat on any of my cruises. Marilyn
Stevesan Posted September 30, 2005 #5 Share Posted September 30, 2005 We haven't seen a top hat since Fred and Ginger. I know, I know. "I did the same thing as Fred, but in high heels and backwards!"
TEXASMUNK Posted October 1, 2005 #6 Share Posted October 1, 2005 With the Cape (black outside red inside) and the cane! One time on the Galaxy last April. Everyone at one particular table dressed to the extreme. One guy wore a 1880's Era Western formal outfit...with Knee high boots shined to a high gloss, and his bull whip attached to the red sash tied around his jacket. They were a hit! mr green Posted October 1, 2005 #7 Share Posted October 1, 2005 The only place to wear a top hat should be outside, just the same as baseball caps on men. In my opinion a man wearing a baseball cap in the dining room, other than for medical reasons is just plain rude! john
LARGIN Posted October 1, 2005 #8 Share Posted October 1, 2005 One guy on my Panama cruise a few years back had white tie, tails and top hat
Cruisin' Chick Posted October 1, 2005 #9 Share Posted October 1, 2005 As long as no one wears it in the theatre.
Ethel5 Posted October 1, 2005 #10 Share Posted October 1, 2005 As long as you remove it before entering the dining room, I say go for it!!
