K&RCurt Posted November 18, 2015 #43 Share Posted November 18, 2015 (edited) Burning Cold by H. Paul Jeffers, about the fire, rescue and sinking of the Prinsendam off Alaska in 1980. Considered the greatest sea rescue of all time. Rescue at the Top of the World by Shawn Shallow. The story of how the Coast Guard rescued the Arctic Whaling Fleet when it became trapped in the polar ice in 1897 A Storm Too Soon, by Michael J Tougias, about the rescue of the crew of a sailing yacht from a life raft drifting in the Gulfstream. Odd that I like reading about what could go horribly wrong while I am on a ship in the ocean! I think I am more inspired at how amazing the Coast Guard is at helping when there is a problem and the great outcomes that result from their efforts. Makes you want to hug every Coasty you meet!
