ICY STRAIT POINT - Tendered or Docked?

Our Alaska Reservation for August 2016 says: Tendered.

 

In the meantime I heard that they are building a pier for the cruise ships. Is this rumor true or false?

I was there this past May... and was told the 400' long pier would be ready for the 2016 cruise season.

It is my understanding as well that the new pier will be ready for the 2016 cruise season but perhaps the cruise line is playing it safe until the pier actually opens.

 

The tender is very short - didn't seemed to be more than about 5 minutes.

The cruise dock is currently in its final construction phases and will be ready well in advance of the 2016 season.

Looks like a fair amount of work has been done since I was there in September.
