Indytraveler83 Posted November 24, 2015 #1 Share Posted November 24, 2015 Hello, We have a cave tubing excursion lined up for our trip in Belize, but it says we will be back at 2:30 and our ship doesn't depart until 6. We tend to like to spend time at our destinations and not get back on the ship too soon. But I've also heard very mixed opinions on Belize. So what options do we have once we are shuttled back to the port? Looking for something low/no cost that we could do on our own time and not get too far away. Any nearby beaches, good shopping or other experiences that would be worth a couple of hours?

OCruisers Posted November 30, 2015 #3 Share Posted November 30, 2015 There really aren't any decent beaches on the mainland. The Wet Lizard (within the cruise ship complex) is a good bar overlooking the water. :)
Rare crewsweeper Posted November 30, 2015 #4 Share Posted November 30, 2015 (edited) There's a nice crafts market across from the tender piers. It's a short walk tot eh "lighthouse and a nice promenade along the water front. You can take a taxi, or walk, across the swing bridge down Regents Street tot he Anglican church and the culture museum in the old Governors Mansion directly across from the church. Then come back toward the swing bridge and stop at Bird's Isle for a nice drink and harbor view without the crowds at the Wet Lizard. Just be advised that typically the last tender to the ships is about an hour before departure. So that could be 5 PM for you. Depends on how many ships are in port with you and where your ship has to anchor. And also be aware as to whether or not your ship switches to local time in ports or stays on home port/embarkation port time. Could be a big difference since Belize doesn't observe daylight savings time. This should not affect the Dream in January though.
