Ruthie2 Posted December 1, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2015 We will be in Ocho Rios for the day. Is there a beach within walking distance from the cruise terminal? If there is one, is there food available or chairs and umbrellas for rent?

runner15km Posted December 1, 2015 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2015 Turtle Beach is just to the left of the main pier, you can see it from the ship. Admission to the fenced in beach is 2.00, chairs, food, drinks are available. http://boards.cruisecritic.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=370019&stc=1&d=1448997174

Are there umbrellas available too? Our cruise line offers a transfer to Bamboo Blu Beach but I've read mixed reviews and can't see any umbrellas there which is important to us - we are just looking for a nice, safe and secure beach. We like Doctors Cave Beach in MoBo and are looking for something similar. Any advice would be very welcome.
caribsun Posted December 10, 2015 #5 Share Posted December 10, 2015 Sun beds and umbrellas are available for hire, food and drink is available on the beach, as are changing rooms, showers and toilets. A small fee must be paid to gain entry, you can get your hand stamped to allow re-entry later in the day.

Also, do the locals bother you to buy their wares here? Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
runner15km Posted December 22, 2015 #8 Share Posted December 22, 2015 Its a gated beach and safe. As you exit the welcome center walk to your left if you are at the main pier. If you dock at the industrial pier I would take a cab. No pesty vendors when we were there.:)

Most likely you will be at the main pier. Here is the port schedule and check out the pictures of the pier and Turtle Beach. Have fun ! :) http://www.cruisetimetables.com/cruises-to-ocho-rios-jamaica.html
