Celebrity, Ban the band "LAX"... from Reflection!

For the first half of the recent Reflection TA, LAX had an additional girl singer. She was missing for the second half. She took most of the lead vocals and was VERY good. The repetoire changed after her departure, it wasnt as varied.

I've played in bands over the years and know how difficult it is to please everybody in crowds of a hundred or so. To please 3000 is absolutely impossible .

LAX`are far from being the worst band I have seen on cruise ship, so cut them some slack.

Bit harsh to ask for them to be sacked.

Yes, I'm just floored reading that someone is basically amazed that their complaint didn't lead to LAX being fired. I know X is trying to get out of their granny image, but I guess a lot of grannies are fervent keyboard critics.

When I don't like a performer on a cruise I move to a different venue--thank goodness for the many bars, the casino and the decks. Surely, people don't go on a cruise and sit in one venue for hours upon hours.

It's comparable to reviews of the main shows, where I think something was totally hokey (because it was :0 ) others rave about, and the other way around.

Flame away!! :)

We never go to the main shows because we find them terribly hokey. On our TA, everyone raved about one performer and they had him back for an afternoon matinee, which was packed. DH and I, thinking we were really missing something special, went to it, even getting there 30 minutes early to get a seat. We forced ourselves to sit there for twenty minutes at which point we couldn't take it anymore. Hokey doesn't even begin to describe it. We love live theatre but this type of entertainment is high school level at best without having the added charm of your child being one of the performers.

I suppose it is all down to personal taste. Lots of people liked the acapella group the last time we were with Celebrity but to us it was like listening to chalk scraping on a blackboard.

Hopefully, this group that people don't seem to like will improve over time ;)

+1 here, could not agree with you more.

are you kidding no live music around the pool. that is something we really liked about cruising.

I agree - live music (steel drum, reggae, island) around the pool while sailing the tropics is synonymous.

Please Celebrity, I beg of you, have a live band or two around the pool for our January 2016 cruise aboard the Equinox.

OMG!!! They are still there. I gave them a scathing review after my cruise in late October.

I was on the TA also...totally agree...what happen to the female singer...these kids need more guidance as to what the demographics are on the different sailings.. Isn't that part of the CD's job...Alex????

As to other comments about music at the pool..how about anything at the pool (besides corny pool games). On 2014 TA one of the guest entertainers sang..he had the deck area packed. Did a late afternoon set for 30 mins..

LAX...not a fan. They are not diverse enough. Maybe for the sky lounge, late night. Really miss reggae band pool side. Unfortunately, I bet they are under contract for a certain time frame and can't be changed before that. We are on Reflection again in Feb. We shall see.......

I was hoping to get away from the hairy chest contests or belly flop contests they have on RCCL. I was under the impression Celebrity was more "mature" and didn't host these activities. Was I mistaken?

The band Lax was really excellent on our recent Reflection cruise 11/28. They played a number of great pop tunes, classic rock and lots of Bob Marley around the pool. We moved to see other bands around the ship later in the cruise if the songs became repetitive. Really a hard working talented young group of musicians. Excellent choice for a cruise ship with wide range of songs for every demographic. I hope to see them again next cruise. Cheers

Was on the TA and the cruise preceding. Spoke to one of the guys in LAX, very nice guy, about their limited music choices and was told this was not their choice, it came "from above". Was also told the same thing by a DJ, when I had the nerve to request a song that might appeal to the ship's demographics. Don't want to mention the name of the problem, but it rhymes with halexander.

In general, I thought that LAX's music was perfect when dressed in "Evening Chic". Drink enough and you won't notice the repetitions or being out of tune.

I think "halexander" is the one that needs to go. He was horrible. Every time I heard him say BYEEEEEEE I wanted to punch him.

Just off the Reflection and I thought the band was fine, even though they did play a lot of the same songs.
