CPCruisers Posted December 7, 2015 #1 Share Posted December 7, 2015 HI! Has anyone used the NJ Transit- Port Imperial Weehawken Ferry for NYC departures? We are thinking of using this as we are in NCY for 4 days prior to departure and between hotel parking ( 300.00) and cruise terminal parking ( 250.00) this would save considerable parking fees. Looks pretty convenient just wondering if anyone has feedback. Thanks!

Folks have commented that it is easy to drop one person off right at the ferry terminal entrance with the luggage while the other person parks. They have also commented that the ferry trip was easy with luggage. Where are you going precruise in Manhattan? The ferry runs an extensive number of free bus routes that will take you many places in midtown. Of course a cab is also an option. It will save you a ton of money plus the aggravation of driving and parking in Manhattan.

CPCruisers Posted December 11, 2015 Author #4 Share Posted December 11, 2015 Hotel for Wed- Sat is in Manhattan so we will not need car. We are going to and staying in NJ for Saturday to visit family,. Will then drive back to NYC to board ship Sunday am. Hate to pay all that $ for parking with the hotel when we don't need the car. I think Port Imperial is the way we are gong for the Wed-Sat. As for the cruise Sun-Sun think we will see how it goes we may go for the convenience of the port parking. Thanks all for your input! I'd look at two sets of luggage - one for four days in NYC and one for the cruise to warmer climates. This might give you the option of more easily taking the free bus from the ferry to your hotel with a small amount of luggage - http://www.nywaterway.com/UserFiles/Files/Off_Peak%20Bus%20Map.pdf After your initial experience you can decide if you want to park at the pier for $280 or do the ferry route again with your cruise luggage.
