Credit card & cash for sail & sign card

Hi- a nOOb question for experienced RCCL cruisers. I would like to use a credit card now so I can skip line at customer service. My 2 questions:

How much of a hold do they initially put on credit card?

When the initial hold is used up can I go to guest services and put cash on my account and finish cruise with just cash?

Ok, one more question, in casino can you buy in at tables with cash, or do you have to buy chips off your sail $ sign card.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

The casino uses cash in USD, not your SetSail pass.

You can put cash down on your onboard account anytime you want, even if you have a credit card associated with the account.

I've never noticed any holds put on my credit card.

I used sail & sign card meaning the card you use for onboard purchases. Was on carnival while back....thought they called them sail & sign!

Even though had great time on Carnival, have been told rccl is much better, hope so[emoji41]

Royal calls it the SeaPass card. I used the wrong term in my post above. The SetSail pass is the boarding pass.
