Exactly how do the gift cards work?

I used one a couple of cruises ago and just went up to the Guest Services desk and asked them to apply it to my account. Worked just like cash.

I'm getting a couple for Christmas this year from family and I want to know how do I redeem them?

My cruise for April is already booked and paid for. I definitely want to be able to use them on my bill at the end of the cruise. They would tremendously help with my drink charges lol

This was my experience too. Guest Services will apply it to your Sail and Sign account for you. Just try to visit GS at a non-busy time so you won't have to wait too long.

Have a great cruise! Lucky you getting Carnival gift cards for Christmas!

Just don't forget to bring them. My last cruise I was keeping them separate from my wallet and ended up leaving the gift card in my car.

Can you apply to SnS account on-line prior to boarding?

DD's boyfriend left his at home on our spring cruise. Fortunately I had cash and applied it to his account, then he gave me the cards before our next cruise.

Unfortunately, no you can not apply them to your account before you sail. It is easy though to apply them at a kiosk or at guest services once you board (I suggest doing it when they aren't busy).

Similar question - Can I buy Cheers online with a gift card instead of waiting to board?

Unfortunately no, they cannot be used for purchasing Cheers on-line, or Bon Voyage (Fun Shop) purchases prior to the cruise.

You can use them to pay for the cruise, or to pre-pay excursions on-line.

If you have loaded your on board account with gift cards, and you don't spend the entire amount, Carnival will send you a NEW gift card with the balance.

This happened to me recently. We loaded a gift card to our account at guest services on the day of embarkation. The cruise was only 3 days, so I didn't have the opportunity to spend a lot of money. We took our grandson (4) so there was not a lot of heavy drinking going on! We also had shareholder credit, so when we left the ship, we still had money left on the account. Guest services said that the balance would be refunded to the gift card.

When we got back onshore, I called Carnival, and they said that I would be receiving a new gift card with the balance.

On our last cruise on the Conquest, I had 10 $100.00 gift cards. I applied them when we first checked in at embarkation. Worked great and I didn't have to stand in a line again to apply them. Got ours through Verizon, I love getting 10% off. :D

On the Breeze last month, I gave ours to the wonderful women checking us in and giving us our sign and sail cards. She applied them to our account before we even boarded. At the end of the cruise I had money left over so I moved it to my casino bank and cashed out in the casino. I know that I left a couple of bucks credit on my account but I haven't heard anything from Carnival about giving me another gift card. I'm pleased with how the situation worked out with the gift cards.
